Hello everyone I have an 06 Big Dog K9 and the brake light aren't working, neither at the throttle or foot brake. Regular lights and rear turn signals work just not the brake lights. I have checked the whole thing and cant seen to find the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I want to find a down wire from telephone pole to the next. So I avoid the whole tail section. I want to find the last connector to the taillight. There I take a test light and see if the brake light comes on up to this point. If it does, I then look at the rear fender back to the taillight. So say the tire rubbed the fender harness and no joy, but I have joy at the last connector. Get it as to chase section to section is a starting point?

Question aren't the rear brake and turn the same bulbs?
they are Todd, just get the signal from a different place for brake and turn. I had a similar issue except mine was no brake lights on the foot brake, ended up being a broken wire at the rear brake switch.

I removed the fenders and all wires were fine except a purple wire was cut, I connected them back together and still the same issue. I have taken the whole bike apart and still cant narrow down the fault at this point.

Yeah that's what makes me believe it is in the input side of the circuit.

But a broken wire is never good. Do you have a good wiring diagram? Violet wire should be left turn / brake. So rear left turn should not have worked either? Was the wire grounded?

The purple wire was an old wire left there by the previous owner, it was connected to anything on either side.

What do you mean by the input side of the circuit?
Your bike still has the EHC doesn't it? Open up the link I posted then 05, 06 folder then there is a wiring diagram bottom right one. The EHC receives a input from the switch going to ground then turns on a output to the light.

Ok not stock then. The EHC was replaced with a Wire Plus unit.
I believe they are no longer in business.

I would then you know what you have and can depend on it. Hopefully someone more familiar with the wire plus system will chime in.
I believe you may have to replace some of the wiring harness now. If you go with a replacement EHC from Wild steed worx an back bone harness? You may have to do some more research. Or you could try and fix what you got? I believe the Wire plus unit just used small relays?

Is this a new sympton? Did your brake lights ever work? Since you say you found and extra wire left by the last owner.

There was just a thread where the owner of a bike with similar problem found that the lights in rear were wired wrong.
Disconnect all the bulbs and use a multimeter and monitor the pins when you try the brakes.

I never checked the brake lights when I got the bike. I did noticed the green light at the switch module turn on every time I pressed both the brakes. I will test the wiring today to see if it was wired wrong.

I was able to disconnect the bulb and test the wires. Brakes would still not work but the signal lights do. I'm trying to narrow down this problem but I'm turning crazy. Any other ideas or troubleshooting I can do?

I know this can get to be a big pain. I looked at your post of the wire plus wiring dia. If you take apart plug #3 you should have 12volts
on pin 1 & 2 when the brake is applied. Pin 4 to ground is both brake switches.

Put a meter on the violet or brown Wire, and ground to ground wire going to the led see what you have for voltage with brakes applied and no brake.

You try Both front and back?

The brake signal and turn signal run along the same wire colored wire.
