I ordered a new headlight for my 2006 K9 thinking I was going to run 2 of them, however the original is so large that two of them will not look good. Anyone needing a headlight PM me and we can work out a deal. I paid about $250.00 for everything.

  good luck on the sale, I'm sure someone royally jacked their headlight installing the HID and hasn't come forward!

How would someone jack their headlight installing an HID?

I just did one for a guy this weekend that was all corroded and froze up, he couldn't get it apart. I told him to spray the set screws and trim ring with BREAKAWAY Penetrating spray and I would be over the following morning.

It came right apart like cake. He worked trying to get it apart all day with WD-40 and junk allen wrenches.

If someone didn't take a hammer and chisel to their headlight then maybe someone will need it to replace theirs that the chrome is peeling off of.

I just know we were all struggling with the rings...I'm sure SOMEONE probably scratched it to hell and would like to replace the whole thing...no harm was meant toward the kit itself Jake, chill bro.

Oh, no I didn't think you were saying anything about the kit, just wondered how someone could f-up a headlight changing the bulb?

:hi: I may have scratched mine a bit, not enough to warrant a new one, but I was milliseconds from opening it with a 2lb sledge :D someone else may not have as much patience as I did that day :2thumbs:

Well I did F up a ring changing my bulb last year. It was not due to being an idiot either (though sometimes that has occured). Could not get the trim ring off, no matter how much break free, gloves, rubber etc.

Had to do major surgery on it and took a punch and put me a little custom notch into the ring where I could get it tapped off with a drift and hammer and it still took awhile.

After all was said and done, found out that the Trim ring was bent into oblong shape due to the set screw had bent it out of roundness at one time or another. So basically trying to turn an egg in a round hole. Sucked for sure but it happens.

Now if someone has a spare trim ring-do not be shy to send it to the hills of WV. If not it will stay on there until I change out the headlight if ever for hell it is a little customizing and war wounds that are always good for a story during a beer!!!

I think Raywood was looking for one awhile back. May want to PM him. I think he said his toolroll or tent or chair, table something he carries messed his up.

Thanks for looking out for me guys. I do need a new shell or have mine re-chromed. Hard learned lesson "Don't mount your jacket on top of the headlight"!! It will wear the chrome off. I now mount my jacket up higher on the bars and tree's.

Thanks,
Ray

Just had my own butt fuck yesterday with the dumb ass design of the headlight! Damn thing started dancing around while we were out yesterday so when I got it home the fun began! Got the outside ring off and then the fun with the inner ring started. Finally got it off, the bulb out, and what do I find???? 2 hex head bolts, one real loose and the other completely free from the outside of the headlight case rusting away. Threw a flat washer on it, tightened them both up, silicone greased the rubber o-rings, cleaned up the threads and greased them and we are good to go. Very poor headlight design if u ask me!

A deer tried to rip mine off. The threads for the front bolt stripped out and the rear bolt just about pulled right thru the housing. I was going to try save it , but it's a mess. I need a new one.
I will get one thru Nelson if Jailer doesn't still have his extra light.

MN... explore other headlight ideas... think outside the BDM box. There are many other good ones out.

I wouldn't mind a nice tri-bar headlight. Something different would be cool. My only concern is with all the electrical problems the dogs seem to have. I wonder if a light that puts out a few more watts might put a strain on the VR or EHC. I do like the style of the original headlight. The retaining ring for the lense SUCKS though.

You can run whatever you want as long as you wire it correctly. Use the ehc wiring as the switch on a relay from the battery if you have to.

I think I'll just go with the stock light for now. I probably will go with the HID conversion and a tri-bar lense after I get the bike back on the road.
My priority right now is to be able to just ride the thing! Things were a little slow around here the way it was. Now I haven't worked in three weeks. I doubt if buying a $500 Headwinds light would be a good idea!
