Rear tire delivered

I ordered a Shinko 300mm from Amazon for $185 on Thursday. It was delivered on Friday! Date code is 3817 so it’s only about 4-5 months old for those who are particular about that. Mine was even cheaper thanks to my employers health and wellness program. We have to jump through a few hoops to earn the best health insurance program. But jumping through those hoops also earns points that can be used to buy Amazon gift cards. I used my points to buy a $75 gift card so my tire really only cost me $111!

If that doesn’t put a big grin on your face (other than the tits and ass threads lol), I don’t know what will!

Ok will do. I thought it looked like the sidewall might stick out a bit further than the Avon, tough to tell without it on the bike.

:old2: Talk to BWG56 about shaving the right side a bit, I'm not sure how much needs to come off for belt clearance.
Thought that was only the Metzler? Thought these Shinkos were okay to fit?

I prefer the $40 extra for a Avon made in Europe but thats me. No offense to South Koreans... Just preference I will however buy any electronics from South Korea!

Its no big deal to shave the side wall down, its not like its the whole side wall, just the pointed edge on the side from the mold.

I had to do the same on the Metz, no biggy. Avon had problems years ago with the tires separating and now it seems a couple guys got them and the Avons have the flat spots, sounds like they need some quality control changes.

I got mine but it looked like it was water damage. Dennis Kirk refunded my money and now I've switch to RockyMtnATV and had no issues with their Avon 300

You really only have 3 choices:

Shinko

Metzeler

Avon

I chose the Shinko more out of curiosity and I really like the tread pattern. A few guys on here have it, and so far haven't reported any negative feedback. So when I do mount it up it'll be getting Dyna Beads too. I figure if I don't like it, I will likely burn through it this riding season and I'll go back to Avon. No real loss.

Since I got nothing but time I also wanted to check something else.

Now I looked this up on JP Cycles and another website and both show the same the load range for the Shinko is 937lbs whereas the load range for the Avon is 1201lbs. If your riding 2 up and with luggage or just with a lot of luggage you will probably exceed 937 lbs. K9 is rated at 716 lbs from the factory. So anyone over 222 lbs would exceed Shinkos recommendation without luggage

I'm trying to find the documentation on the Shinko website to confirm for sure. Just hard on a phone.

That's a good point Eric, fortunately most of the time I am solo and never do luggage. But the wife does enjoy riding with me and I alone soak up the load range lol. Guess I have to get her her own bike now haha!
