03 chopper .. What size starter does it use and who would y'all recommend to buy it from?

03 starter is out I changed the battery and checked the wiring .. it spins then clanking noise. It won't turn the engine over

I'm sure it's the bendix but I'd rather change out the whole starter if possible while I have the money it's an 03 so might as well

Before you spend all that money, clean the contacts in the solenoid.

Before you spend all that money, clean the contacts in the solenoid.

Don't think its the solenoid if its spinning

Like Shannon said, clean her up.. hopefully ur shaft didn't snap and that's not ur issue.. the clanking noise leads me to beleive something isn't engaging. But yeah I'd pull it off and clean it up first.. just had a buddy here last week go through that and he cleaned it up as per Shannon.. and he is back in business

I use ultima starters and have had good luck with them, I have them on both of my bikes and you can usually find them in the 150-175.00 price range. Slam button installed too

Hey thanks everyone I appreciate Any input .. I took it to my buddy Marty he is a master bike mechanic and I sent him Donna ans Derrick's numb for parts ... I'm still learning phase on wrenching I work 90 hrs a week in West Texas oilfields and a single father of 1 son so I'm grateful he is helping me out and all of y'all cause I don't have hardly any fee time to tear it down myself

I double checked the # and it is the correct one, maybe send them a text also, but usually they get back to you pretty quick
