Well....I am CANCER FREE!!!!! I had my surgery on May 11 and just got over the 6-week recovery hump! I am still a little sore here and there, but I am getting used to my new reality. I go back to the doctor in August to run scans to make sure that I'm still clean, but I'm optimistic about it.
At my follow-up appointment, the doc said that all of my pathology reports came back negative at the cutting zones and he felt that the cancer was contained in just the bladder. They also said that they removed 38 lymph nodes. He was very positive about everything, so I feel very reassured.
I did have to lose my bladder, though. According to the doctor, my bladder was used to making cancer cells, so there was no saving it. My only option was to have an ileal conduit- also known as a stoma. Because of this, I will have to purchase ostomy supplies for the rest of my life. The costs so far have been about $150-$200 per month. With that said, I want to thank each and every one of you that so generously donated to my cause. It truly has been a lifesaver. I have been stressed and worried about coming up with the money for these supplies and your donation will definitely keep me for at least 5-6 months! It's just amazing and I am so blessed by your generosity!
I truly am so grateful and humbled by your thoughtfulness. Thank you so very much!! Love to all!!
