Ground Problem RIP kit

Ok guys I know there is someone out there that can help me out. 04 Ridgeback with rip kit installed about 2 yrs ago. I now have a problem with the negative battery post melting. I have checked all my grounds or think I have at least. Still have a problem and today it melted the terminal completely out leaving the battery worthless. Can anyone give me an idea of what I need to look for or am I looking for the wrong thing? I have a new battery coming but does me no good to install it with this problem continuing to eat my batteries.

ok will check on that, is that possible even when starting the bike it s gets hot enough to leave blisters. The terminal melted while starting it up about an hr ago.

Check your starter and the positive contacts on the starter as well.
I sounds like a starter problem if it melted when starting the bike, although I've normally had the positive terminal melt.

You didn't do anything silly like let the starter run more than 2-3 secs at a time did you?

As I was cranking it I took the seat of and could see smoke coming from the ground terminal and then the nut separated from the battery

just an update on the ground problem!! I installed new lugs on the ground and the positive cables at battery so far so good. With that being said I am leaning more toward it being a loose connection that caused the meltdown of the ground battery post. Upside to this is now I have a list of things to check before each ride. Thanks for the input from all of you!!! Keep calm and ride on!!!

Ok so there is a problem that I thought might have been in the same line with the ground issue. All connections are good at battery and battery is well charged. With that being said, while riding the other day is decided to shut down on me needless to say I fired right back up and kept on riding. It done this about 4 other times before I got home with one time I had to hit the run button before it would start back up. Ok I rode it today for roughly 20 miles it shut down 3 times before I reached my destination. I have surfed through the forum looking at a few threads with shuts down while riding. Maybe I'm not wording it right? If I need to start a new post please let me know. Thanks in advance and Happy memorial day!!

I replaced the board when I replaced the harness not saying that isn't the problem but the button acts as a kill switch and I don't use it as that I turn the ignition off I prefer not to touch the run button. But I do have to use it sometimes or the ignition module will not light up and I'll get no fire when cranking it. Which is really aggravating cause I have to remove the seat.

Key switch failing?

When it shuts down you loose power to everything?

I figured the guys from Kansas motorcycle works would chime in. I've tried to call them but no answer and no returned called. I plan on taking the control apart and see what I can find.

Tac goes dark don't know about lights I assume they do. I ran it yesterday and moved the key around but I kept running.

Next time it fails check to see if head light is on.

Sounds like a loose connection somewhere if it isn't the key switch.

Hm..Probabably not keyswtich then.

So just to confirm this issue all started with the ground melting? You didn't have shut down issues prior to ground melting?

I thought it might have something to do with ground but it seems to persist after the ground problem was fixed and that was do to a loose ground cable. before hand I hadn't rode in around six months due to work and putting some new tires on I would roll it out start it up let it run and keep it clean. This problem started some where around the ground problem or progressively got worse.

And just to add I took the controls apart before I took the ride home everything looks like it did 2 years ago. Other than the wire for the hand break lights was broke off don't know if can solder it back or not. Hope I'm making sense.
