Just what I was thinking the wire is the one connected to the board correct?
This was attached to the board. Then the wire from the hand brake connected to it. Nothing on the board was arched out that I could see.

Just a thought and I don't know how your bike is designed but on mine if you use the top battery post the seat pan could possibly short the battery.
You would definitely get a melted post if that happens.

I agree but my seat pan is fiberglass. My post was melted because of a loose connection.

Ok so hand control is fixed problem still exist she shut down on me yesterday a couple of times in a row. Not real positive what's going on. The thing that gets me is after shutting down it didn't do it for the next 60 miles even in the rain.

I just replaced the original with the rip kit 2 yrs ago, not saying that isn't the problem. before it was over with that was nearly 700$. I'll see what I can do.

Are there any symptoms immediately prior to shut down, such as sneezing through the carb, etc ?

Lights stay on not really a cough except for yesterday when I started it back up it had a slight spit and sputter and died it did that a few times after before I got where I was going then nothing for the rest of the night. I have the carb off now not trash in fuel and nothing that seems to be a problem as of this point. I'm exploring all possibilities.

I do apologise for not stating that. I know I have in other post. I prefer to not have to go through replacing that again haha good experience though.

As an FYI that RIP kit uses the Thunderheart module and after speaking with them their failure rate insanely low. I assume you might have a loose wire or rubbing somewhere. Those are always the bitch to track down.

Take your rear fender off and check the wires to your tail lights. The 04 is an odd year and they ran the wires under the fender and it's very easy for them to rub on the tire where they go through the banjo style bolt into the LED Housing. I've had to solder it twice on mine.

In later years they ran the wiring outside of the fender and have channels in the struts for the wiring.

Removed the the rear finder everything was good there and pulled the tank Friday night check all the connections everything look good there also. Pulled the ignition cover off and inspected the ignition looked great. Went for a coast run Saturday around a total of 408 miles. Shut down on me within the first 50 miles started it back up rode another 30 miles it did it again at this point I was a little furious took my key ring off and and also found a loose wire which later turned out to be for the crappy horn. Either way pulled it out the way started up and rode on. For next 70 miles or so nothing she rode great or as great as a ridgeback can haha. Stopped for fuel put my key ring back on another 30 miles and it happened again so I took it back off. Mind you the key ring weighs practically nothing. Rode another 10 to a diner nothing happened. From there we rode maybe another 45 minutes it shut off 2 times. Rode another the rest of the way to Panama City no hiccups. We rode the strip she would try and shut off do to low idle with a combination of the fact it was hot as hell. Everyone was on a Harley so we go to the Harley shop my bike still the sexiest thing in the parking lot just thought y'all should know. At Harley they can't seem to talk me into getting one so I go outside and tinker with my bike trying to make sure the ride home is a good one considering they wanna take the interstate. I took the rip harness brain and tuck it in behind the excess ground wire to hold it in place seeing the bold that holds it down has come loose and never really held it good in the first place. From Harley to home and speed of 80+ it never ones shut down and ran like a scalded dog for next 122 miles home. Now with all that I figure it may be one of 2 things either my ignition switch or my my harness brain unit not being still. Any thoughts?

If it was me id go ahead an order a new switch. Get a good OEM one from Derrick and Donna.

This way you'll know for sure If it's the keyswtich before you go tearing into anything else.
