Did you think you'd ever get any directions ? Why start now? That's not funAnd the saga continues.
I emailed Garry and told him it was still slipping, he said and i quote "i thought it was a Sportster" WTF.
Any way he said he would ship me some heavier balls.
These arrived while i was away at work. Yesterday i arrived home for the first time in 6 weeks to find 9 balls in a bag, no instructions no anything just balls.
So i set about draining my primary oil again, removing the cover again.
Now i have 30 balls (lucky me) he has supplies 9.
So i email him again. Response.........space evenly.
Well it is all back together "AGAIN" and it has started to rain, guess i will have to wait another 6 weeks to see if this works. F>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>A>>>>>>>>>>>>R>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>K
I wonder how the same size balls are different weight, i suppose the material difference but how much can it be? It never occurred to me to weight individual balls, maybe they were different. If they are, you should spread them evenly to keep everything balanced.Did you think you'd ever get any directions ? Why start now? That's not fun

How many balls this thing take to operate? More than 9?I wonder how the same size balls are different weight, i suppose the material difference but how much can it be? Wow...what a piece of work! so I guess when Curtis says 3 balls he means only 3 of the heavier ones he used not 3 total. Cause you gotta have them all in there I imagine.![]()
A few...

Bloody hell another up date.
It is now a year since i thought i had (with the great-full help of others) sorted this "THING" out.
This bloody thing is slipping again.
So i got a new clutch pack (Thanks Curtis again) sent over and proceeded to measure and set clearances AGAIN.
One thing i found was a 1/2 fiber 1/2 steel plate which i have put against the EMF, i have the steel against the Alum of the EMF, thinking at the time i didn't want a friction plate wearing on the Aluminum.
i remembered what Tapio said several pages back that he "welded the friction plate to the Alum of the EMF". This may be the problem.
It's not a lot of slip, and it gets worse as the day progresses, temperatures rise and beer is consumed.
Solution i think will be replace 1/2- 1/2 with friction plate, decrease gap of .05" to about .025" dry.
What have i got to loose?
1. Sanity
2. my usually calm exterior.
3. And maybe i get the joy and pleasure of pulling my primary off AGAIN (wish i got pulled of as much).
Can't remember and didn't want to have to read through the post again.BUMP
Update #21
The clutch has been working.......ok i guess, up until now.
I thought i had it sorted, with the right set up/feel/ clearances etc. But alas NO.
We rode 3000klm in 5 days, while the thing didn't let me down completely, it did fault intermittently.
Sit at idle when cold i always use the clutch to ensure no jumping when i engage 1 st gear, after that it's all good.
I then switch between using and not using the lever, however sometimes even with the lever pulled in the bike jumps forward or stalls usually in heavy traffic or at the lights, very embarrassing.
Home now, and drained the oil...........perfect.
Checked the tension of the cable............perfect.
One good thing ................. it doesn't slip anymore.
So i have pulled the OEM set up out of the box and i think i will change it back to STD. After all i just want to ride not worry about leap frogging into the back of one of my buddies or worse someones Mercedes.
Anyone looking fro a $600 paper weight?
So the plates are stuck together for some reason. Either the EFM bearings are stuck on closed position, there is some shit between the plates or whole setup doesn’t sit right. What can you do? Open the EFM, check the ramps and balls, check the plates, check the EFM plate. Anyways Sorry to hear, I sure thought only ppl with open primary and EFM had such a problems.BUMP

Well my baker clutch is ok with ATF on the SG. When I was running the EFM we chatted about putting holes in to squirt wd40 on the ramps. He thought the aluminum would retain enough lubricating properties. It did not for the open primary. That same open primary is having clutch stickiness with the stock top fuel clutch. I am assuming that there is no place for the dust to exit. I will know more when I work on it, but that might be a while. The open primary is on my AIH so not a complete apples to apples. So the plates are stuck together for some reason. I wonder how the balls and ramps would like ATF oil... at least that should keep the plates from sticking together?
That's why I asked what oil he was using with it.So the plates are stuck together for some reason.
