Put a s

Put a shirt on and leaving that enricher/choke on while your bike warms up isn't a good idear, only use it to start the bike and then hold the throttle if you don't have a cruise mate.
The old man is right:yesnod:
I was in my boxers and had to retake the pic because I remember people like u critiquing my pics.. lol..

same thing, just appears the previous owner may have removed the factory lever and replaced it with a chrome knob.
So.. on a serious note here.. I was always under the understanding that was my choke, and what u r referring to is a choke as well.. but my bike needs to run for a good minute or so before I can shut the choke off.. I usually let her run for about a minute before I shut it off and then let her idle for about 4 minutes before I leave...

NO, it is not a choke. there is an item called a Cruise-mate that is mounted on the throttle control in place of the little idle screw. it's main purpose is for setting when you are on a long run like on the interstate with little traffic around operating like a cruise control, but a side advantage of this little wonder is to set the throttle at initial crank-up so the motor runs at a steady speed (for me around 1500rpm) until it has warmed up enough to let it idle on its own. best investment you can make, will pay for itself in no time with the savings from fouled plugs and wasted gas.

on the underside of the throttle grip (right side) you should find a small set screw located between the 2 throttle cables. if not, there should be a hole there. this hole has to be drilled out with a supplied jig and drill bit and then threaded with a supplied thread tap. then the Cruise-mate just screws in as per instruction sheet and you are good to go. actually, i have had one on mine so long, it has just become second nature and i forget to tell people about it anymore thinking everybody already has one. sorry about that. see the previous thread for the link. it says it is for harley but they also have them for BDM.

Ya know I have never tried to just give it some gas before starting.. always used this technique. My v star always fired up without any throttle or choke, and we'll so does the fury, but fury is EFI.. but my bike backfires quite a bit on decel.. idles like a dream, I'm assuming I need to change my jets.. just haven't looked into it much because it's not a problem I guess.. my bike averages about 40 mpgs no matter how I ride so I'm not worried about that and plugs last quite a while.. I always wondered why I had two lines coming off my throttle.. psh.. lol

Not sure if you have the owners manual that came with the bike, but here is what is captured in mine for an '06 K9. I agree with the comments from other member, I have used the "enricher" maybe 5 times in the 11 years I have owned it. Two twists of the throttle, hit the start, then manually hold throttle for 1 minute at 1500 - 2000 RPMs.
