Just changed oil, only put a quart in, how much more.

Hey guys, I know there was a thread that had been started about oil and how much but I can't seem to track it down.
What my question is, what do I need to do to make sure I have enough in it. memory serves me correctly I was told to run bike to operating temp. then fill. is this right and if so on this bike how much do I need.
Mr. Wright if you can get back with me once again I would like that manual. Just let me know what you want me to do.

At least 2 more quarts before you start it.

When you are changing your oil, bike needs to be warm. Drain oil, replace oil filter, (K&N170-C) add 3 qts of 20w50 full synthetic oil.

transmission gets 20 oz., primary gets 1 qt., and engine gets 3 qts. and then check and top it off if needed.

Thanks for the response, only question I have is how do I know it is topped off. I have no dipstick. I thought I remembered someone saying it needs to be warm and it should be an inch to an inch and a half from the top.

the level of oil varies between models so you need to know what is specific to your skoot. thus the extreme need for the manual for yours.

My 09 Mastiff has a dipstick, but my 05 Bulldog didn't, and the level was always a 1/2" up from the bottom of the fill tube, same on the 09 with a dipstick.

While leaning over? Mine says to make sure the bike is upright when checking the oil level, are you sure about that?

For the Mastiff you can check it both on the kick stand and upright. The bike should be at operating temperature.
If using the kick stand you check it using the dip stick and the level should be between the Min and Max marks on the dip stick
If checking it in the upright position then your checking the oil level being at the bottom of the filler neck

He has an 03 chopper, the tank is right under the seat. When you take the cap off, after it's at operating temp, the oil should be about an inch below the top.
