Just for giggles, try hooking the jumpers straight to the pos cables with them disconnected from the battery, and with the neg jumper cable hooked to the ground bolt on the frame. Kinda take the battery out of the equation so ta speak. ??

Isn't the car battery stronger? Would that show anything different?

Clean your solenoid to the battery. If all the connections are clean and tight, then this can be your issue assuming the compression releases are working.

Have you tryed pushing on the compression releases before you try to start it?

I understand that is bad. Discovered it when I started having issues. I will take care of that today.

Heat shrink may only be a band aid on that, if you do use heat shrink may want to use the marine grade.
May want to consider replacing it, you have bare wires exposed at the boot
