Yes, open primary belt drive.I feel like an ass.. But what the hell r yall talkin bout.. I obviously see the pics of which im not a fan of the style in the primary like that.. But is this what yall r talkin bout
Karata is pretty much a one man show, nothing gets done there without Jimmy. He is very old and not in the best of health, he will only do what he feels like doing and building belt drives for BD's is not on his to do list.I have a 3 inch Karata on mine , never an issue ,, you would think that as many people that want one Karata would make it a lot more available
Which one is which? I personally think that linda goes with the bobber or old school chipper style bike.. Not a fan on the K9, ridgeback, chopper, mastiff.. Maybe the mutt is just about the only bike I wpuld have that on.. Just a way to ruin a sleek clean lined bike.. Personal opinion of coarseI really like the looks of the Karata vs the Baker.

Baker is alright, but the Karata is badass..

So your mounting this on the downtube?Well here it is it will hold almost 4 quarts and with a hanging out there in the Wind it will help to keep it cool can't wait to get it installed as well
The wider belt is the Karata. Personal opinion, open primaries look awesome on any style, chopper or pro street..Which one is which? Yes sir..., I never did like the oil tank feedline lower then the oil pump..., the oil pump shouldn't have to suck oil into it it should be gravity fed into it, although I'm going to have to put it in line ball valve on it because it's going to act just like a water tower all that pressure be pushing on that line and it'll fill my lower cases with oil..., that other set up with an under the frame I just didn't like that idea whatsoever I didn't want to starve my motor for any oil.So your mounting this on the downtube?
Interesting.

That looks awesome, wouldn't your peg hit the ground before your primary? My 4" I think it's too wide for the pro street ?
May order 2" pulleys and belt when I decide to get the pitbull rolling again. I am in no hurry View attachment 36788
It does, I was saying that it looks like a damn treadmill on the pit bull because the bike is short. It has also ate a few pairs of my jeans while ridingThat looks awesome, wouldn't your peg hit the ground before your primary?
I talked with this guy, his shop is right around the corner from Karata. He has everything but the motor plates and clutch. He says he has a bunch of stock but it just doesn't sell without the most important piece..
Yep pretty fucking useless without the Damn plate.I talked with this guy, his shop is right around the corner from Karata. He has everything but the motor plates and clutch. He says he has a bunch of stock but it just doesn't sell without the most important piece..![]()
I'd say..hopefully I will get my hands on one someday, have a 3D scanner for work that I could scan the motor plate with to create a Cad model for the CNC.Yep pretty fucking useless without the Damn plate.

Maybe someone on here might be doing some rebuilding this winter and can part with their plate for a few weeks.I'd say..hopefully I will get my hands on one someday, have a 3D scanner for work that I could scan the motor plate with to create a Cad model for the CNC.
Maybe, I'll just keep this thread alive for a while see if it gets any response..Maybe someone on here might be doing some rebuilding this winter and can part with their plate for a few weeks.

Your asking this Again? Why not just get the baker? All set to go no messing around
Correct...puts more strain on your main bearings so probably need to replace more often maybe 20-30k miles. Not really hard to do. Pressing out the main bearing is quite simple can be done without removing transYep doesn't make sense to make stuff when it can be purchased ready to go and I don't think that wider belt is such a good idea for the transmission jmo
