Why my engine did not blow up?

You wise guys, explain to me why my engine did not blow out.
Got my bike from the shop, it has now new Compression Release valves. Was looking the old ones, specially the on that gave up. Basically it looks to be like a solenoid, on mine the inner part took of. There seems to be a bolt on cylinder end holding the piston part to the outer part with threads. On mine the bolt was missing, it had to fall in to the cylinder? Why didn't it break either a valve or a piston on it's way to the exhaust?
Rode the bike rather fast back home tonight just to see if the engine explodes guy pulling next to me on exit said 60 miles at 115mph is not bad for a chopper. 6th gear might as well be a bit taller, now the rpm is bit high, yellow light on tachy looks like a warning light.
That Big Dog frame is made of rubber I think.
On the bright side the speedo was not fogged and needle was oddly staple! And LED light from Curtis is just brilliant
What is your experience with the frame? On mine crossing the centerline over say 95mph. sometimes causes this slow wave-like flexing. It is a bit un-nerving. I did replace the bushings on neck, it helped somewhat I think. What next? Front forks or rear suspension?
I'd say my 2003 is more stable on high speed, sure it has like 30.000 less miles too.

The hole in the top of the head is not big enough for the inners of the CR to fall in. It all comes out the top.
Huh, thanks for that info! Wonder where the heck that bolt or machine screw went then!

If it did you wouldn't go 5 miles.... It flew off... I think 115 mph is a little extreme especially for a chopper. You are a wild man so maybe look into neoprene bushings for the swing arm and handle bars instead of rubber and buy a really good life insurance policy... :nonod:

Probably up and out! I lost 4 bolts in Daytona during Biketoberfest. They shake loose and then out. Just keep loc-tite on all of them. Need to plan a ttip to Sebastian soon. Pablo needs a pep talk. Bring some work gloves, we may need to help him with some chores too!

I have neoprene in handlebar. I seldom do over 90 but sometimes it's nice to get some adrenaline and burn the carbon from the engine

Sorry to hear about your Pops. Thoughts n prayers sent. FWIW, the Pit gives me some of that frame flex when running 90+. Just hang on and throttle out!! Be safe.

My ridge has never seen 90+... it very rarely sees 55. But smooth as silk at 45-50 :old2::chopper::old2: (that's my speed) :whoop:

At any speed your neck is taking all the stress and twists. At 90+ it's a lot of stress so your neck gets a few degrees out of wack and the back end follows... In the old days we would weld plates on the raked necks to help this but even the plates didn't help at 90+. Being you own a chopper with a large rake doesn't help. Also the down tubes twist and even with a brace it won't help over 90. These are cruising bikes not crotch rockets...

I bet you are right, btw at the shop I had my bike, they had chopper frames made of large diameter aluminium tube. Looked kind of cool, bet it doesn't flex too much but was thinking of vibrations and weldings...

Those frames looked seriously thick and large diameter. Didn't care to memorize the builder.
