I ran ATF in mine, until I put in the EFM, with no issues.
Once I put in the EFM the ATF made it bite too hard so I switched back to Primary Fluid.

Yep, I did make mine work quite well. Didn't have to clean it every 1000 miles... But all that said I would not use it with open primary. Riding back from Fayetteville trip (3000 miles with no cleaning) I did ride a long stitnt and it started rain, a lot. I think the EFM plate was a bit hot after riding all day and didn't like cold rain. The whole aluminium plate lost it's rigidity and started flexing in higher rpm. So the throwout bearing moved about 6 mm all over! I was rather pissed to ride last 400 miles basically with no clutch.
I took it out once home and never figured why it flexed like that, couldn,t see any cracks.
Went back to original setup.
I did like it, but not in dry setup.

The other big thing for me is the issue of mileage, Bruce you say you have 15K miles without issue, i have a tendency to twist the throttle and gallop along at a fare clip for long periods of time, also i do some serious miles in a day in high temps what are your thoughts?

Just so I we have an understanding, i am NOT and invalid i am just over adjusting my clutch every 1000 miles again, worked great for 12 months now i am having issues again. And i am also scared of breaking a clutch cable 200 miles from bum fuck nowhere (i usually do carry my spare) without a pub (see bar) within walking distance.

I am not a hard rider, but do have a far amount of miles on my EFM - I have over 40000 miles on bike. the harder you accel. the harder it will lock up. I think the guys at EFM is gary and he was very helpful to me when I needed him. there is no pressure on the clutch cable at all, so if you get this the clutch cable will no longer be a issue.

I will be running it wet inside the original primary, i like the look of the chrome. Open primary's don't seem to last too long for us guy's outside the major cities, our roads (loose term) resemble your very bad secondary roads, lots of stones, dirt etc.

I put the ATF F in yesterday arvo re-adjusted the clutch the "Curtis way", i won't know the success of this till Saturday.

I decided to do a check under the seat, and found my neg terminal almost melted away, guess i will be melting down some lead and trying to make like new, 4 week old HD battery.

Always bloody something.

Battery repaired, almost like new.
Use Dramil like dentist does on a tooth, clean the area without smoothing ensuring it is clean, as rough as possible, wrap small piece of aluminium around, use bolt to secure, warm terminal with small gas torch as you melt your lead.
Once melted pour into area and apply moist cloth to aid cooling.
Perfect result. Well till it eventually fails ........ again.

Jesus! Sounds easier to just use star washer and tighten the bolt once a year

I like the hard pull of the clutch too, (and that is all I like hard besides tits :lol:) but what I don't like is that the dogs go through clutch cable like I go through socks. I have spent big bucks to get the dog home because the cable snapped (twice). This clutch seem to be the answer to one of problems or I can go hydraulic for about the same price.

I guess this type of clutch is fairly new technology and probably one reason why others don't have one or why they are not standard equipment on todays bikes, all I know is I like it and I will have one within the next two weeks or so.

I have sent photos to Garry at EMF, he says he can help me out............cool.

He mentioned machining down "bosses", anyone have an idea what he is saying?
Anyone have a photo of the machining work done to the clutch basket for the install?
I can see by some pic's on the web site you have to drill and tap 6 x 1/4" unc into the outer hub, now if my mind is thinking correctly, this what the chain runs on and on the inside the clutch plates fit into the spline.
If i then machine a step into the spline area (bosses i think)to locate the EMF auto clutch, then drill these 6 holes the outer hub these screw will only be holding on by 3/16", is this the case or am i thinking of the wrong thing?

In practical terms that means if you ever go back to original clutch, you need to buy that from Baker

You know what, I think you have beaten Franco! If memory serves he was thinking chancing his cam about 2 years.
You have now been planning EFM since september 2013! That is bloody 3 years
Nice to see EFM is still in business

On my open primary it was the inner hub that was machined. The clutch plate mechanicals are thicker and it needs more room.

This is the inner hub!
SO i will have to machine down the inner hub to allow the EFM clutch pack to sit inside and bolt up to "outer hub sprocket (item 28 in the manual).
The EMF replaces items 14,15,16 & 17 in the manual.
This will mean i will have less discs and plates in my clutch pack..........Yes?
