Turn Signal switch with wiring. I was under the assumption they were Harley controls, but they have the very small gauge wiring so I believe they are Big Dog specific. Anybody have one? Mine exploded upon use!

Thanks!!

Thanks Mr Wright! That makes it a LOT easier.

A bit of a chore to get the switch off the bars! I had to remove tank, remove EHC, cut all wire ties - to get enough slack to slide harness thru frame and thru bars to get splices out of the bars! Now its just solder and reverse.

The more I look at it - if my turn signal button broke/fell off - that should not have shorted out anything. The switch module box is intact. That means I think I have 2 issues. A broken button - and a crapped out EHC (again).

This bike is for sale. Puts me in a pickle to keep throwing $ into it just to sell. I just put all new front end on it (tubes/lowers) at a cost of $700+ just because I didnt want to sell it with a leaking fork seal. I screwed it up fixing it so I had to order new tubes/lowers. Now, the fork seal is leaking again! The frustration is huge.

This sounds crazy - but I'm considering parting the damn bike out! Its a perfect condition bike! (minus switch and fork seal leak). I cant get the phone to ring for 10k in spring! I may start a new thread to get info on this option.

Parting a bike is a lot of work, removing, boxing, and shipping. Also, time to sell not always easy to find a buyer for a used motor for 3-4K or a 6 speed for 1k.

I wouldn't set sights on getting more than 9-10K parted. If you had an 04+ you'd have a bit more value with the controls, trans and tins.

Just something to think about sorry about the bad luck.

Fork seals sometimes don't always go well, I got a set that has 4K and are great and another set that started leaking after 1500 miles. It's just one of those things.....

Thanks man! I started a new thread for kicks. My seals average 2-3 rides......lol. I did the first set - lasted 1k miles. Did the 2nd set, screwed up the lowers and tubes. The 3rd set I had Kaptin do - and no bad words at all - Im sure he did a great job as usual. He even used new "guaranteed for life seals". They lasted lasted less than 100 miles. Again, its not his fault - just the nature of these bikes I guess. He's always top notch! I'm afraid to do them myself - so my option is to ship tubes/lowers back to CA (big added cost), put on a new hand controls, then buy a new Thunderheart module again - just to relist for sale - and hope it sells before it breaks again.

Ive sold over 40k in used vintage Mustang parts thru ebay - so the boxing/shipping I'm ok with. I'm already set up for it. Its a good winter hobby......lol.

Does your bike have a fork brace?

It did until I put on the new lowers/tubes. When I went to install, the old fork brace would not work because the i.d. of the old fork brace is smaller than the lowers. I talked to Curtis and he said its fine to run w/o it. I dont think they make a fork brace for my new lowers because the lower are fatter at the top. They dont have the area to bolt on a K9 style brace. If I need a fork brace to stop the leaks - that means I need new lowers (again) which pushes me closer to parting the dam bike out......ha!!

I saw those "guaranteed for life" fork seals. I was wondering if anyone had tried them.

Did you call Curtis about the fork seals? What I found on my 2000 year bike is that Big Dog once again used about the cheapest parts they could get their hands on. The uppers have a poor quality finish job on them and once they have some wear they will not hold a seal. How bad are they leaking? Is the oil pouring out of them?
