Thanks Mr Wright! That makes it a LOT easier.
A bit of a chore to get the switch off the bars! I had to remove tank, remove EHC, cut all wire ties - to get enough slack to slide harness thru frame and thru bars to get splices out of the bars! Now its just solder and reverse.
The more I look at it - if my turn signal button broke/fell off - that should not have shorted out anything. The switch module box is intact. That means I think I have 2 issues. A broken button - and a crapped out EHC (again).
This bike is for sale. Puts me in a pickle to keep throwing $ into it just to sell. I just put all new front end on it (tubes/lowers) at a cost of $700+ just because I didnt want to sell it with a leaking fork seal. I screwed it up fixing it so I had to order new tubes/lowers. Now, the fork seal is leaking again! The frustration is huge.
This sounds crazy - but I'm considering parting the damn bike out! Its a perfect condition bike! (minus switch and fork seal leak). I cant get the phone to ring for 10k in spring! I may start a new thread to get info on this option.
Parting a bike is a lot of work, removing, boxing, and shipping. Also, time to sell not always easy to find a buyer for a used motor for 3-4K or a 6 speed for 1k.
I wouldn't set sights on getting more than 9-10K parted. If you had an 04+ you'd have a bit more value with the controls, trans and tins.
Just something to think about sorry about the bad luck.
Fork seals sometimes don't always go well, I got a set that has 4K and are great and another set that started leaking after 1500 miles. It's just one of those things.....
