2005 Chopper. thinking about going with the WP as I put one in my brothers bike years ago with no issues since...when I did it there was a member that put out a step by step instructions...worked much better than the crap instructions WP has...cant find the old post nor the instructions...thought I saved them...also seeing a lot of talk about Docs & Curtis EHC replacement kits...anyone remember who posted WP instructions?...hoping to meet everyone next year in Wichita...go Dogs !!
Guys,
I just replaced my WP with the R,I.P kit. The RIP kit makes much more sense when replacing the original Big Dog module. RIP has all connectors to match up with the original. If you've installed a WP kit, you will have some challenges. Installing the WP kit requires you to cut connectors off and do some splicing.
I did get the RIP kit installed. All lights, horn, turn signals and tach appear to work fine. Only problem is NO START!!!
Coninues to give a stressing starter sound - turn key on, press Start and you hear the starter solenoid kick into place and strain, but the engine will not turn over.
Ended up replacing the battery. SAME!
Fully charged the new battery over night - SAME!
Removed spark plug and turned the motor over several times (starter worked fine with the spark plug removed).
Replaced spark plug. switched key on, pressed start - Whoa Houston we have lift off!
BUT....lots of back fire and associated noises. Definately not running on both cylinders. Turn off quickly and have to re-think this process.
I may have mis connected the cylinder position sensor with the ignition leads. Check tonight after work.
Anyone with other ideas would greatly be appreciated.
