I find myself wondering if the clearance differences with these bikes is rooted in the 'centering' of the engine-transmission in the frame. Logic says that identical bikes would have identical clearance issues if the drivetrain is set-up identically. I have not removed my engine at any time so I don't know if there is room for 'play' in the set-up.
I have Postman's bike('08 K9) set-up to run perfectly true if you let go of the handlebars, it goes straight as a arrow. However, my bike ('09 K9) has always pulled to the right since the day I bought it new. Makes me wonder if the entire drivetrain is 'off' just a little on parallel alignment with the frame.

Mine pulls to the right after I installed a new belt. The centering is off a little to get the new belt to run center on the rear hub. I think your right about the drive train.

Thanks for the feedback Alan. Just as a sandbelt must be centered in your power beltsander by making the rollers parallel, our rear wheel must me squared with the output pulley on the transmission REGARDLESS of the alignment of the wheel to the frame or the drive belt will not run in the center of the output pulley. So if the entire drive train(motor-primary-transmission) is slightly out of perfect alignment to the parallel line of the frame, the rear wheel will be slightly out of perfect alignment to the frame or the drive belt will not track centered on the drive pulley on the wheel or the output pulley on the transmission.
It is frustrating to say the least to have a constant pull to the right and I will immediately head for the ditch if I let go of the handlebars.

Your belt is riding on the right side of the wheel pulley (good size gap on the left) per your pic, keep an eye on your belt cause it's going to wear...
 
Yeah I noticed that, I was hoping to get it more in the center of the pulley, I was going to recheck the alignment today to make sure, but one of the allen heads stripped out so it's been delayed.
