I too did the red Locktite. I also had lock washer on it. Still came loose. Thinking about doing a wire tie to it.Yiiii-Haaaaa!!!! I can´t stress it enough.... "All Connections Clean & Tight!"
Negative Battery Pole was loose........ AND I had RED Loctite in them..... Always remember that these vibrations can loosen up ANYTHING & EVERYTHING!!!!!!

I´ve got the older Yuasa that I took off.... (then it was the VR) I will try that first.... Oh man, I am not looking forward to chase gremlins..... not today.....You got an old Yuasa ? Just buy a new one and be done with it

Cranking, probably crappy connection ,
Running, maybe overcharge? regulator?

Take the battery post off on the neg side. Touch it back on. It should not spike removing or replacing cable. If it arcs then direct short on the posi side of some component.
