Basically, if you can't inspect the bike in person and do a compression test, look at the oil color, check the tires and brakes and most importantly of all ride the bike at highway speed to check handling and transmission, you're taking a big chance!
EBay only guarantees that there is a legal title nothing else!
Even if you have a trusted friend or mechanic who can check out the bike for a modest fee, keep in mind depending on your location you may well have to pay $1000 or more for shipping!
I've turned down many bike deals where I've seen the bike in person because I just didn't like the condition that the owner kept the bike in. These are expensive bikes and if an owner doesn't take pride in his ride do you really think that he wrote it or maintained it properly while he was owning it?
I don't know anyone that will let you test ride a big dog unless you showed up on another big dog. I've bought two without saddling up, first was from a dealer Dream Machines ain't a chance on God's green earth your on that without paying.
There was a guy on here that let someone take his dog for a test ride and it wound up totalled.
If and when I sell mine, even if the guy RideS a Harley he ain't riding the dog. There's only two people that have ridden mine one is my father and the other owned a big dog that I rode with frequently.
I'll never forget pulling out of the parking lot on the big dog, that first right turn into the street was very wide! I don't have faith that anyone will take the care needed to try and ride a 9 foot chopper For their first time if they don't own it. That was a 250 rear and a 300 is Mich different so no chance
