Mike didn't say it was dripping. Here's what just happened to me, bike was fine for 1-1/2 years no tranny drips. I put the bike in my trailer to leave for Daytona on Sunday and it sits in the trailer for the night, level in the wheel chock and Monday when I go to tighten down the straps because we're leaving, there's tranny fluid under the dog. I'm pissed, really, what the hell can I do about it now? nothing, so I take the tranny oil with me if I have to add, we get there and there's more on the floor of the trailer, so I check it and its at the low mark on the kickstand, which your supposed to check it level so I'm good to go. After riding each day there's a few splatters on the frame and back wheel but only spots. I let it sit on the kickstand and it don't leak. After tearing it apart the oil was coming out of the seal between the 2 shafts and running down the drive sprocket. I could see in time that your oil could get low because of this seal, its item 72 on Bakers Gear set Assembly pic, and it really didn't splatter the rear up that bad to cause you concern, It looked more like road grim, I was surprised when I removed the clutch/belt guard and see the oil all over the FRONT of the drive wheel.

I will inspect that also this weekend but you're talking about the right side correct of the transmission to my first inspection of looking at that area I've only had a very very small leak from the transmission plug I put thread tape on plug and that fix that

Well after long thought and consideration I don't want to just start throwing parts at the transmission I got off the phone with Andrew and will be sending the tranny to him for a rebuild with a new updated bearings. He did say that if I'm having issues in 4th gear and 5th gear on shifting up there some movement on the counter shaft or the main shaft which means bearings are going bad

good way of thinking, no need wasting money and still maybe not have a fix.

He does good work. At some point it will need a new mainshaft if it's an 06/ and early 07 anyways.

My 2004 was rebuilt by Andrew and have about 4k problem free miles and it does indeed shift better than when I bought it with only 3k miles on it.

He actually put a new main shaft in my 06 when I had it I did sell the Ridgeback and now have an 08 EFI k9

Yes the right side. and your sending it to the right Guy to fix it. I drove mine up and watched him do the rebuild, great guy

Its only about 7 or 8 hour drive for you, but look at the shipping charges you'll save.

Is it necessary to remove shocks in order to remove tranny. I know there are 6 bolts under tranny.

It makes it a little easier to get at the bolts but they are a bitch also to remove, I had to heat mine to get them off, be careful and make a diagram of where and which shims go where.

I do remember them being a bitch also on the ridge back had to drop the oil tank to get to them thanks for the tip

Hey man.I have some play in my Rod also in my transwhen I adjusted the clutch yesterday. I bought a new Rod and redid the grease and set cable and baring balls bk to correct setting. But that was months ago when I tuned up the clutch last night I saw some play in the rod. What's that cause from and how do I correct it. I don't mail off anything I do in house cause I was raised on a shovel and a 4 speed kicker.. but this Baker 6 speed damn touchy. Have any advice? ? Sikes
