Great Adventure! Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your new home. Just had a friend move there and invite me to Gem and Mineral Show next year. Would love to see that part of the country.
Great story, thanks for sharing

I love my chopper and will defend it til the day i die. Sure its had some issues. But just normal stuff. And when you guys see pics you see i ride. Rain sleet snow. Never matters to me. I never wash the scoot. Thats what rding in the rain is for....Good post...You personify what bike trips are about. Sense of adventure, persistence on the face of the trials which always pop up on long trips.
Long tours are not for the faint of heart. Lots of guys would have been pissed off and bitched about BDM reliability--your optimism is what it's all about.
Thanks for the write-up, Jay.
Hell yeah RayYou're now close to me, we can get together for a good ride
Dude, you ride in the rain just so that you can spend an afternoon in the shop cleaning it and killing a case of beer in the process. Nothing wrong with an afternoon in the shop with a few rags and a few cold ones.I love my chopper and will defend it til the day i die. Sure its had some issues. But just normal stuff. Hahaha i guess it just comes down to the fact that I'm just too lazy or dont have the patience to polish the bike...Dude, you ride in the rain just so that you can spend an afternoon in the shop cleaning it and killing a case of beer in the process. My bearings failed at 15K. But they were really bad! I just didn't realize it. No noise! The fronts were rusted too. The dust caps on the front hub, trapped moisture in behind them. The race rusted in the hub.Hey Tattoo, we had another thread about bearings failing would be good to know how many miles you had on these when they failed.
Did you change them with your last set of shoes or are these older?

Yea mine didn't fail but at 8k they were already well worn. I packed more grease in the new set to prevent the know moisture from getting in.My bearings failed at 15K. But they were really bad!
