I have 8900 miles on my 07 and they still look real good. What's the most anyone has gotten from there original pads? Just curious.
what's the avreage mileage from the front and rear brake pads?

My buddies bike is just turning 10,000 and they still have some good life left.

Hey DV, is there a better brake pad that lasts longer than the factory ones available out there?

I can't remember changing out my front pads but did soon after getting the bike so I could get rid of that rubbing sound. You guys hear your pads making that soft grinding sound as you slow to a stop light.
I changed mine out to the Z-Plus from LRB probably a couple years ago and wanna say it was at about my 22,000 mile point when I changed the front tire after returning from my summer run over to Memphis and Little Sturgis in Kentucky.
I did my rear pads after moving up here last year again to the Z-Plus that are very quiet and are long lasting and that was at about the 35,000 mile point. But again hard remembering mileage now a days!
But as mentioned I have about 50,000 miles on my Chopper now and my stock pads lasted a long time and my Z-Plus are doing great and will probably last longer. Most of my miles are all Freeway so not much stop and go. I do use both my front and rear brakes.

I have changed out the pins in the floating rotors several times though!

Hey Ray, that mileage you guessed at ( 22,000 for the front tire change) was that your first front tire change? Also was the rear brake pad change at 35,000 the first change out for the original factory pads as well?

I also get the noise from the front when coming to a stop. I agree that is more than likely the drillings.
The brake pads as already said, will depend on your riding style and type. I just had mine checked and the rear had to be replaced at 15k, the front still have good life left on them. Tend to use both evenly for straight roads, but do use the rear a little more in the twisty roads back roads over where I live.

Tom, grab your rotors and try to rotate them. If you have excessive movement (documented in a previous thead here somewhere) then they need replaced. But they are the "button" pins that hold your rotor to your carrier.
Side to side travel is not a condition for replacement as I've been told just the forward/rearward movement. There is about 10 of them per disc.
They are cheap and I've replaced mine a couple times now.
