Cracked oil pressure sensor "help"

My oil pressure sensor switch broke I super glued the plastic back on and everything looks fine. My question is can you run your bike with a broken one and not hurt it until I get a new one? Just don't know if the glue got the spring stuck and will it hurt the motor in any way if it does not talk to the ecu? Will it fly apart and leak oil under pressure? The metal and part screwed into the motor is fine just the plastic broke by the nut and broke the stud off that touches the spring. Thanks in advance.

I can get one on Monday at the bike shop but it is the rally and want to go riding today. That's why I was wondering if it was alright to ride with it that way. If the bike shop don't have one I will check napa thanks I never thought of that.

Yes and no. Yes I can see the oil light being triggered by crank revolutions and the light going to ground or loses ground, who cares which direction, yes it's possible. No, you do not have a low oil sensor, nor will the bike shut off you lose all the oil out of that switch.

Will it fly apart and leak oil under pressure?

As mentioned, NAPA should have something. Again, I'd build a stopper/backup kind of oil switch, so look at how the switch broke, is dry, no oil out the switch, probably won't be a problem, but why take a chance(?)

I cracked mine putting in a oil pressure gauge and used supper glue as a temporary fix so I could go riding. I purchased a new one assuming it would come apart being spring loaded and subject to vibrations. Well, that was more than 2 years ago and I still have the super glued one on the Dog. It works fine and lasts a long time.

X2, Loctite SUPER GLUE does wonders!!!!!

Also in some weapon parts. (ask me how I know!)

Its a must in your kit when you are away from "home"....

LOL They are cheap get one while you can or before you have to pay $300 for a tow Truck. Just Saying I know nothing nothing.

I can't agree more. Sometimes, shit happens! I didn't expect my super glue to hold up against the spring pressure but it has for years. I do believe when it fails all I will get is the oil pressure light which is what I saw the first time it cracked off. I guess it depends on where it breaks.

I only carry a cell phone, credit card and have towing with my insurance. I used to plan for possible breakdowns but worked on making my bikes reliable as best I can and decided to just ride and have fun. I will also carry a microstart and weapon of choice on occasion. There are 24 hour Wal-Marts around with duct tape, tie wraps, and glue of various sorts!

I know, but a $5.00 part could make it rain on your parade and ruin your day. Not everyone likes duct tape on their bike lol. To each its own, I just like to play it safe and keep my ride as reliable as possible.
