I have the Dunlop and I really like the look & feel and they are holding up strong, almost two years on them and tread is still good.I need new rubber on the back too.
Last Avon rear 250 seems like it lasted half the life of the first, but no splits or cracks for 2 years, now it is worn out.
Not trying to hijack the thread but I am considering a "Dunlop Elite 3 250 rear". We don't have many choices in a 250 rear (Avon, Dunlop, ?____ ; others are 240...).
I want a back tire with a cool tread pattern. I liked the old Avon Venom rear tread pattern most; then current Dunlop Elite 3 second; Avon Cobra third. Metzler is a cool tread pattern but no 240 size.
For me it is not necessarily: price, performance; but more the look...
7K on your 300 MetzlerI am thinking I have about 7k on the metzler 300 and still plenty of tread left. the trouble is that it still rubs some. when I got the metzler, I ground off a fair amount, checked the alignment and then took off for what would be a 4400 mile trip.
my hunch is that I need a little adjustment on the shims on the transmission.
I like the tire but concerned about eventually facing replacement.
I would have to say yes if you get new stock and not "Old" new stock.
I have a set that are about 1 year old with 4000 miles on them and I have no splitting.

I have the metzlers on the bbc and haven't been pleased with them at all really made for a rougher ride and will be going back to the avon! I have a brand new Dunlop 250 on the Pitt but by the time I get a chance to ride it, I will probably have to change it due to dry rotI need new rubber on the back too.

there is an oval pressed into the sidewall with (4) digits in it. first 2 are the week of the year and the second 2 are the year it was made. (3612) would be the 36th week of 2012. :2thumbs:same for me, just be sure to check tires production date (somewhere here is a post about how to read it).

I've got 12K on my Avon and no splitting I'm happy with it.
