Need Help!! K-9 Oil Filter Lines - Problem Solved!
I can't believe this. I have 10 k miles on my 2007 K-9 and it runs as strong as ever. I recently purchased a rogue choppers oil scavenger system. I purchased the correct unit (verified by calling rogue choppers). I installed the unit correctly per instructions and video. When I started my bike oil vapor started shooting out of the middle hole of the Scavenger all over my front wheel - a real mess. The bike shut right down after cranking over a few times.
I called rogue choppers and they say my oil lines must be reversed?? This bike has never been taken apart. The bike never seem to run hot and I always checked the oil temp with an infrared gun. How could this be possible? Rogue choppers said there should be no pressure coming out of the middle hole of the scavenger.
The guy on the phone was very professional and suggested I reverse the oil lines going to the filter housing.
I just want to check with some of you guys to see if my configuration matches yours. The attached picture shows the oil lines coming out of the oil filter housing. The oil line on the inside (farthest away in the picture) next to the engine case is routed to the bottom of the oil pump. Can someone look at their K9 and tell me if their inside line goes to the bottom of the oil pump also.
If my oil lines are mis routed is amazes me how I was able to put 10k miles on this strong running motor with no overheating or other issues.
Any help here is greatly appreciated!
PS - the picture is horizontal - it should be verticle.
