Yup...mine ended up going back to the factory.. I think most of them are OK and that mine had the wrong spring plate. My stock is OK and I'm in the middle of a major build of the bike and might go hydraulic in order to route everything inside the bars.

PM just released a hydraulic for bakers and fits our dogs - about $325 in chrome. Includes a very cool looking cover plate that is similar to a spider web.

To answer previous questions^^ Next time your at a dealer walk up to any 08 and pull the clutch... they all have them. BD says about 25% less pressure and has more info on their web site.

EZ pull clutch?

I just installed a new Motion Pro Stainless clutch cable and decided to throw on a "White Bros easy pull clutch"....well I bought mine at Jireh cycles because the prices there are the best $7.95 vice $20.00, but it made a tremendous improvement. I had a stiff clutch before but now it feels silky smooth and much easier to deal with. Here is a great link for install because the kit comes with no instructions. By the way I do have a Baker 6-speed and it works perfect. I am not sure for all your RSD rides?

E-Z pull clutch

I got mine a couple years ago after I snapped TWO clutch cables about a month apart. It also wrecked my Baker RSD so I had to have that rebuilt at Baker's. (Enough rambling...) Anyway, I got the updated clutch pack from Baker, and they told me about the EZ pull upgrade. Total price was around $65 because I got the clutch upgrade free from Baker, but I also had to pick up the new ball and ramp assembly from BDM that made things a lot easier. It was a night and day difference because it used to take a lot of grip to hold it during long lights, but I can pretty much shift or hold the clutch in with just my thumb and index finger now. IMO, $65 was well spent. :hi:

Today I changed the original ramps with the ramps from the newer 9-plate-clutch, the result was that the handpower reduce from 11.5kg to 7kg. It is beautiful

What the heck?

As stated in previous posts I have a 2005 BD Chopper DT which I had top end problems with and thus rebuilt top end the way S&S had intended the motor to be built in the first place ( long story) . Now that motor is delivering approx. 110 to 120hp my clutch was slipping like crazy so my mechanic installed a much heavier spring which cured the slip but made the clutch pull almost impossible, for me anyway. So after discussing this problem with Baker in depth, I was told the answer to my problem was there easy pull clutch designed just for the Big Dog. I was assured that it would cured both problems, slip and hard pull. Along with a new clutch ramp came a 9 disk clutch assembly which wasn't even mentioned in numerous phone calls with Baker. My bike I think like yours has a 12 disk assembly in it. After install the clutch slips worse than it ever did, and this is after $1200 that I pulled out of the sky. I am at wits end with this bike, bought it for $18.000.00 have put another $7000 in it and there it sits in the garage waiting for me to walk by and toss another paycheck or two at it. What the heck do I do or where do I go from here. I'm in Ripon CA so if any of you know somewhere or somebody that can get this dam thing fixed for good please advise. As far as Baker is concerned, they may be the big boys in this market but from the way I've been treated I surely don't know how they got there.HELP

I feel your pain! After having a Baker open belt drive installed I could barely pull in the clutch lever. Two hundred miles later the clutch cable snapped
Lost an entire summer trying to get everything fixed. Finally Baker said the clutch basket was off and they had to re-machine it.
It pulls smooth now but it's still a bitch to squeeze.
They say there is no EZ pull for 06 so I just may go back to the stock set up over the winter.....sucks cause I really love the open belt drive :(

There are some really good clutch disks out there that won't slip and you don't need HD springs. I feel for you because I've put over $3k in my bike since I bought it and have another 4k to go before it's right. Check out some racing clutch disks and use your stock pressure plate. I have the Ultima 3.5 belt drive with their clutch and it works fine real easy to pull and no slip.

It sounds like your new clutch isn’t adjusted correctly.

I had no problems going from a 12 plate to a 9 plate, mine doesn't slip. The 9 plate has thicker steel plates (I suppose to keep from warping) but the fiber disks were exactly the same.

The 9 plate is supposed to be easier to adjust.
