We have always taken care of our own, I have made several donation to folks in need over the years here and on the old site.:2thumbs:
Same here and I think this could work if we had local members in good standing verify the person has
1. Documented Proof
2. Did have insurance
3. Has a genuine NEED.

Feel free to add anything to this.

On another site I once used to be on (when I had my Goldwing) we had many of these. However, it was always on a case by case basis and donations was given for both medical and bike issues. It was amazing to see how parts was gathered, logistic arranged, and helping hands travelled to rebuild some bikes as well as the amount of donations that was offered to the guys/gals in medical need. This is something I hope one can find over here as well and something I'll be more than willing to donate to. A preset account will unfortunately attract gold diggers but a helping hand to a brother in need is something I think most of us can handle and is more than willing to help.

You almost need an attorney to set something like this up. I'm all for helping out on a case by case as needed basis.

Yes, I have to agree with you... I guess it would make it a lot easier in a "case by case" basis which it is my original idea anyway... I am just wondering how many members of the Forum really are into helping a Brother out!

I think the word "insurance" in the Poll is misleading some people.

Working for myself, I'm blessed to have the flexibly to help with many charities. The ones that I focus on are hardship cases that involve health, need of shelter and food. I would be interested in helping members who are struggling with issues of that nature.

I agree with BB's statement above. It's something that has always been a part of this forum. There has never been a formality or preconceived plan about it, which could invite vultures, but rather surprising random acts of kindness, such as my surgery.

All that said, Franco, you have a very generous heart. Thank you.

I screwed up! I originally voted no not knowing there was a thread connected to it. So therefore, I am in. Just a DF moment for me.

how long does the person in need have to be a member? what if he/she joins the day they loose their skoot? what if 2 or more loose theirs within a couple weeks of each other? there are so many variables about something like this, it isn't even funny.

I agree there are variables but in the end we decide as a group. Once it's decided accept the decision and be happy.

JMHO also

Hardship cases that involve health, need of shelter and food should always come first. After that, it is an awesome donation to achieve or complete a "Bucket List" so to speak.

count how many forum members acutally are supporting members and you"ll get an idea of how many are willing to contribute. just my 2 cents.

Look also at the number of viewers between the two threads on the subject, help a brother out sure beats the insurance idea. It's a noble thought nevertheless.

I'm going to throw out some guidelines that I would like to see. You guys can add to or take away from this list.
1. There needs to be a lead dog. Someone who has the final yes - no vote.
2. The Recipient needs to have been a contributing member for X amount of time, or X amount of threads.
3. Define contributing
4. The fund should be set up like the troop support, and/or forum support.
This reminds me, I have heard of insurance companies that are set up for small groups or organizations, to help cover what there insurance won't. Kind of like Aflac. Anyone ever seen this?
5. The amount given, not to exceed what is needed, excluding shipping and taxes.
6. There needs to be away to verify this
7. The Recipient should be submitted for voting, by someone other than himself.

We may be putting to much thought into this also. I believe if the need ever arises, you would be surprised at what would happen.

Yes Sir!

My Point of view is... "Common Sense!!!"

Should we start a list of "Rules & Regulations"???
