READ! Helping a Brother Out

Alright... I was walking around and my mind was running loose... suddenly I had this crazy"?" idea...

Talking Brotherhood... lets say that a "reputable" member from this Forum has his/her bike totaled and cannot get any money from the Insurance to get another bike...

We are 10,000 + members... a simple donation of $2 per member would sort the Brother out with a 20K Bike!!! F...k, I would feel good donating a lot more than that!

Imagine the feeling!

And I am sure we (This Forum) would even become very popular... I am sure we would be rated Best Forum Ever!!!

Obviously, this should be taken seriously, meaning there must be some written rules to qualify!

Right... that's my idea for the day :D

Your comments?

It would be great if everyone was up for this but....out of the 10,000 members how many actually are ACTIVE "still log in and surf the sight" I bet not even 1000? maybe a moderator can determine this.
On a side note>>>>>>>>>>> I wish a member would just drop off the sight if they have not logged in within say 12 months so we could all actually see who is at least somewhat active.

GREAT IDEA BY THE WAY

Believe it or not, on my Camaro forum, that idea has actually been put in place when one of the loyal members had his car catch on fire and burn to the point of total destruction. The insurance did pay but left him very much 'short' on replacing the car. A member made the same suggestion and asked for donations of any amount to be collected to help him out. Granted, the Camaro forum is huge in comparison to this forum but enough money was collected to allow him to purchase a new Camaro better than the one he had. I agree that there is not enough 'active' members to make this work with small donations. Good idea, it would be the implementation that would be the problem.

We do something similar at work. We do a collection when someone has a death in the family. Usually just a buck, but it does add up. Hell even with the small active members' I'd be willing to kick in $5-10.

Its a good idea, unfortunately there are people that would take advantage of this.
That´s why in my original Post I said:

"Obviously, this should be taken seriously, meaning there must be some written rules to qualify!"

The individual should have to prove that his circumstances are for real for starters...

Good idea just need a moderator to verify accident and all details. What comes to mind is out of the active members here how many support this forum even after they have received repair help ? However I think it is doable.

I hear ya Buddy, but insurance fraud is punishable in this country and their are still many that try to get away with it. I'm just commenting, not trying to flame your panties:roll::roll:

Good idea, and very honorable. However, and like some mentioned before, there is always that one guy who will ruin it, especially over here were every man is entitled to something... especially those who doesn't pay their insurance to begin with....

Definitely not! this guy needs to be sorted out by somebody!

But still, I think its doable... as Bowhunter said, its been done before.

Wouldn't we be able to Police ourselves?

Anyway... just food for thought

Another idea... is there a Lawyer amongst us??? he could write the "contract" up... it could be like taking an Insurance?

It's a good idea but would have to be set up and administered correctly. Some ideas I have would one make sure the guy purchased a bike and not just pocketed the cash. Two you would hope a person carried replacement value insurance on his bike to start with. If he was rolling the dice and had no insurance maybe it is his own problem. Lastly maybe a donation to cover medical expenses would be more helpful. Just my thoughts. A good idea though Franco.

:2thumbs: Awesome idea. Let's do a trial run! I propose we send Biker Babe Kathy $20 each so she can get a smoking hot Big Dog for those Awesome photo shoots for POTMs and calendar pictures. She should include Maddie and her squirrels.
