Let me know if you want me to send you parts, I can get everything ordered today
Thanks Andrew. I will let you know. I am not in a hurry anymore... I am deploying again this coming Tuesday and I will be away 4-5 weeks (I hope). I will be wrenching on it again as soon as I am back, the weather will be fantastic so.... yes .... (contradiction) I AM IN A HURRY!

Andrew, these are hydraulic lifters, not solid correct. Could Franco have a collapsed lifter? Or a partially collapsed lifter????

Franco. Order a gasket, new lifters and a new push rod! When you get back from deployment your parts will be waiting!

Yes they are hydro and it is possible. I'm thinking the bearings in the wheels are bad as well. Like I said before S&S lifters are not the greatest out there.

And I agree, order now and have them when you return home....Be safe out there Franco :flag:

The latest guys!!! you will NOT believe this shite!!!

Right.... just finished doing the whole lot from scratch, took the cam off, checked everything in there and put everything back..... ok....

For some reason I swapped the spark plugs and guess what???? the front cylinder is NOT firing!!!! :bang::bang::bang:

Right.... swap plugs again .... back cylinder Not firing!!!

New spark plugs: Both cylinders firing!!!! BUT: this rear cylinder does not play as nice as it should.... so my guess is I really need new pushrods, lifters and SPARKPLUGS!!! :bang:

I think I mentioned before.... it is not the first time that this rear cylinder doesn't like these Iridium sparkplugs.... Had to change them twice in a year (which is 4 months of riding, short distances)

I still think it was me while loosening the locking nut.... believe me it was hard and I used the pushrod itself as leverage
:spank::spank::rant::spank::spank: put your wrench's on so they are within 15-30 degrees of one another and use one hand to loosen or tighten by squeezing them together.

Didn't I tell you before them Iridium plugs are only good for the landfill? :D
Maybe you can make some sort of air gun to shoot them at something

Next time use a pair of vise grips on the opposite end of the wrench. those pliers are cheaper than pushrods.
Lesson learned!!! :2thumbs:

THROW THOSE FUCKERS AWAY!!!!!! I had 2 sets in both bikes and they shit canned out in less than 2000 miles. Went back with Champion and at 8000 on the HD and 4000 on the Dog with NO PROBLEM. more people try to use them for the hotter spark and it's not worth it! Just think of the trouble this has cost you in riding time and head aches!!!!!!

francoblay1

The Spaniard
Oh well.... the Dog is covered and the battery on the tender till March now...

I was thinking... would it be a good time to swap Heads and go with the S&S??? :D

Who could send me a good set of complete heads with good valves & heavy duty (600 min lift tolerance) springs, all set up ready to mount on the bike?? John? Andrew? Curtis?

I will not change cam again for the time being.... I will stay with the 585.

Do you think it is a job I could do myself? or is there a need for specific tools?

and.... HOW MUCH +/- would these cost me?

I replied back to your email Franco.
As far as heads go, you already have the S&S heads, they most likely just need to be reworked with new Valve guides, valves, seats, springs and keepers. To rework you do need special tools and all parts and labor will run you $400-500.
New set of heads are probably twice that. The rocker boxes are around $600 and standard rocker arms $200, roller arms $400...shafts another $35.
Plus the lifters, pushrods and any gaskets you will need that are not included with parts.
I think you should just have me come down there from Sweden sometime around May :D

Now, this sounds good to me... in May (if there are no holds ups @ work) I should be home!!!
