This is exactly my feelings!!:angry:Suppressed it looks that bad with only 4k on it.
I got 10k out of my first one.
Mileage.Give us more input on why you didn't like the Metzler![]()
You are really only running on the tangent/center of the tire radius and as it wears the flat in the middle of the tire gets wider. The tread depth is minimal and its not on a flat surface not to mention the performance levels that they try to manufacture them to, speed ratings and softer rubber to grip the road. I went riding with a freind and he told me when we would pull out from a stop and I got on the throttle, that white smoke was coming off my tire where it meets the road in 1st and 2nd gear. I did not know I was spinning the tire, but it does make sense to me now why I only got 8000 miles out of the original Venom. Avon changed something when they went from the Venom's to Cobra's.Mileage.
Wear was even, but around 5000 klm not miles is not value for money.
I can remember back in the lat 70's- mid 80's if you 5000klm out of a rear you were doing well.
Shit 30 years on you would expect better..................yes????

:roll: you need to go for it Paul. it even comes in white wall if you want it.![]()
The guy with that tire should be handed his sign, there's no reason for a tire that looked like that to get to the point of blowing. Well there would be 1 reason, he's an IDIOT:lol:Not uncommon with these wide tires. The biggest killer is not enough air pressure and not enough cornering.
This customer rode his bike till the tire blew out on him going down the road :loony: For $300, is it really worth your life and the $30k bike?
On another note, did you ever get your transmission repaired?

Thanks for posting Tom, makes me want to jump:lol:metzeler shows an mh90-21 in the me880 which specs out at 87mm with a 2.15 wide wheel. it even comes in white wall if you want it.

info will be down in the pg. 200+ range. the 280/300 is pg. 207-208 and the mh90 is on pg. 210
alot of info to sort through, easy to go cross-eyed.

From what they are saying the Metzeler 280 is actually spected out at 301mm wide which obviously is actually a 300. Only thing is they run $40-$70 more then what the Avon 300 is.I have 5k ( & counting ) on my Avon , still good for the miles that's on it .
I guess I'll go ahead and order another b4 there gone .
I like the tread on a Metzler a lot better than what's on the Avon but I'm not doing any sanding to make it fit or ordering a 280 .
Who else makes 300's ??
Oh and Avon and Metzeler and the only kids on the block making these tires!:bang:I have 5k ( & counting ) on my Avon , still good for the miles that's on it .

I hear ya Mickeetwo, I have a Metz on the ridgeback and I'm happy with it. The Mastiff will be getting the Metz too!...:2thumbs:I know what you mean Brew. I went through 3 Avons and finally gave up. They kept giving them to me free, but I got tired of removing my back tire. Avon finally gave me a refund and I bought the Metzler. On my second Metzler now
