Clutch Pack Adjustment

I need a little tip in regards to adjusting my clutch pack. I tightened the bolt until I felt resistance and then backed it off 1/2 turn. I then tightened the lock nut.

I find that my dog won't start unless it's in neutral (tranny cold). I guess the clutch isn't fully disengaging when I pull the clutch lever. If I have her warmed up then this isn't as big of a problem.

Also, when I shift to first the bike lurches a bit. I expect the bang and a small amount of reaction, but the bike actually lurches forward about quite a ways and it even stalls from time to time.

I've tried to adjust the clutch pack again using the same method just in case I didn't tighten the locking nut enough or I adjusted it wrong but had the same results.

Are you setting the clutch cable correctly as part of the steps?

Plenty of videos out on You tube -- same process as a Harley.

Your symptoms say the clutch pack is too tight or the the cable is...

I don't think I messed with the clutch cable now that I think about it. I'll look into that.

Road Rider : So your suggesting to back off by about 3/4 turn instead of the 1/2 turn? I was thinking of trying that but I thought that i'd poll my fellow Dawg owners first.

RIDE IT HARD!!!
Put an open primary on it. That took care of all of my problems. Shifts better. Starts better. Finds neutral much easier and corners better. Dropped 7 lbs of wt off of the left side.

.
Try only backing it off 1/4 turn or less, then adjust the cable, and you should always start it in neutral, if not one day you will find yourself on the ground.:whoop:
