Found that bolt that goes from bracket on top of my oil tank to the front bottom of the rear fender was missing. Put one in yesterday (Loctite it)and noticed alot of vibration I had on my seat disappeared after hiway ride this morning. This is only point of attachment besides struts. Guess with the big fender and that much metal not secured it was making it vibrate. Just a FYI.

You might want to check all your engine mount bolts. Especialy the coil cover and mount bolts they have a tendency to get loose. You can also put longer bolts in the coil cover to engine head area (2 Bolts) this has seemed to help many (as well as myself as far as things getting loose.)

All my fender strut bolts came loose and I cracked that bracket right in half during a long rough ride two years ago. When I say rough, I mean I was riding hard for over 1000 miles and no pot hole or substandard road could stop me. I bent a piece of galvanized bar to the required 80 or 85 degrees (whatever it took), cut some gasket material and mounted that back on until I received a beefed up piece from BDM. I had to purchase some new bolts for the struts because I lost a few. Two years later and everything is tight.

These Ridgebacks can take it. I went off road to a farm once but the ruts really screw with you. I won't do that again.

Amen, coil bolts have come loose, backed all the way out, etc. in the past. Even Loctite used and they still get loose sometimes. Thanks for reminder though as I am going to spend today tightening ALL fastners.

Huw, what are you doing, Riding Motocross!! I went down a dirt/gravel road approx. 1 mile long once and you are right, the ruts want to throw you off because of the rear 330 and length of sled. Plus it got muddy and dirty as hell!!

I did ride motocross when I was a teenager in the 70's! I must have been in a time warp or something.

Do you know the size of the bolt. Was getting a vibration noticed my bolt was missing. Where did you get the bolt. Thanks

True value hardware store. My service manual says one is 3/8-16 X 1-1/4inch SHCS, chrome and the other is 1 inch long. These are for the fender struts not the front of the fender. The front side of the fender bolts are both 5/16-18 X 5/8 inch HHCS chrome.

I read all post concerning vibrations, I've checked every single bolt, have the longer bolts in the coil cover....all bolts are tight, it's not a real bad the vibration, one that shakes the whole bike, it's more of a "tingling" vibration, fells like a vibrator on high speed when i put my fingers on the gas tank or any part of the bike, vibration goes away when going at any high speed when I pull in the clutch. If...the fiberglass washers are missing from the coil cover, will this cause this sort pf vibration?

As always thanks in advance....

My concern here Rick is you knowing what a Vibrator feels like on high speed. Do we need to know more about that or should we get back to the bike. :2thumbs:
