Switched to polyurethane bushings. Now I seem to be getting more vibration in the handlebars. Will probably change back to a new set of rubber ones.

Jason, thank you for your service :flag:
Thank you  There are several of us on this board who serve and have served. Just proud to be a part of a winning team.

Poly bushings can add a bit more vibrations plus every bike is going to respond different. My old bushings where shot, so replacing them needed to be done anyways. Lets face it these bikes are not smooth anyways but putting the poly bushings in just made it feel tighter for me. Vibrates yes, but not like the rubber ones did.

Getting some real shake on the front forks on the bbc lately going to check the bushings to start. Wasn't sure if this is normal with the longer rake as I am really used to the pro street. Other thing I was thinking would be to change the fork oil, the seals look good.

Hi Paul,
In my humble opinion you should talk to Quang of the SoCal Riding group.

He has two of the same BBC Chopper Sleds like yours. I think he may have a good opinion on this...

He will be on the Ride Dec.29, 2013, Sunday -- hope you can make it!

I prefer the rubber over polyurethane; less vibration!

PS: Tires sitting on same spot over time cause irregular shape... SD Tommy is so fanatical he puts his bike in the air on a lift when not in use!

Poly caused more mirror vibration

The Dealer replaced my rubber bushings with poly under warranty.
I immediately noticed more mirror vibration and got hand fatigue due to vibration. After my stock mirrors rusted out, I replaced with shorter smaller Arlen Ness mirrors -- the shorter stem eliminated the mirror vibration and better quality "black" tinted mirror glass improved overall look and vision.

The poly vibration now is not so bad that I would go back to rubber...
You guys know my riding style, usually short haul, less than 200 miles/day so not that much time for hand fatigue.

Yes, I've brought a thread back from the abyss. I have been looking for a new set of mirrors and came across this thread because mirrors were mentioned as having less vibration after replacing riser bushings. While reading this thread it clicked that sloppy play in my handlebars were one of the first things I noticed when I bought the bike. So, I went out to the garage to check out the bushings and wouldn't ya know it, this is what I found.

You can see the tear right by the flash. Go figure. Looks like I have something to do this weekend. My only question is the Arlen Ness kit has both a course and fine application. How do I know which one I need? http://www.arlenness.com/prodcat/Handle11.asp

Or should I just use this kit with the stock bolts: https://www.yocracing.com/accessory_store/store/yoc_viewitem.asp?idproduct=708071

Stupid question I'm sure, but is there a difference between a riser kit and a damper kit? It all looks the same to me.

You did bring it back from the dead for sure. I just switched back to some rubber bushings this year as a matter of fact. Glad this thread was able to assist you in some fashion.
