I have said this in the past, and will again, I trust very few ppl, and even fewer to work on my stuff. I do trust the Thomas the V-twin Tech (P8RIOT and RAYWOOD use Thomas also), and will NOT use my local HD dlr even to work on the Harley I bought from them.
It would be a privilage to have a seasoned Professional Mechanic like DOGVET work on my bike. Hell, the man built his own custom motorcycle to boot.
You all are correct though, most Mechanics do not care about the customer as much as the customer cares about his own car.
Most Doctors do not really care about each client.
The carpet salesperson just wants a sale.
Point is, there are a few incredible Mechanics that love to work on our bikes, and go out of their way to help us.
DOGVET is one of these rare ppl. If he was truely after the sale and so on, he would be promoting his shop and going for the almighty greenback.
Dogvet is not doing this, and has done nothing but offer us some of the best assistance on keeping our pups healthy, in his spare time, without asking anything in return.
R&B is a Big Dog dealer who sells dogs without the high markup we are so used to, and offers Tech help also. R&B IS IN business, and we know that up front and yet, they are not aggressivly pushing sales down our throats. The first couple posts were a bit aggressive, but R&B is now in good standing on this site.
Pinkchopper built her own chopper and she is a huge resource and yet is not a mechanic, but that lady cares about us, and these bikes. But she knows more than alot of Techs and more than most of us. Too funny.
Having said that, I also 100% agree that their are a lot of Monkeys (royal assholes) out their grabbing for your money, not keeping promises, keeping our bikes for days and weeks with the premis of "we are working hard to fix your bike", and "the factory is not coming thru for you", when in fact they have over committed to working on too much and not doing anything. Some of these techs are over worked and under trained (ECH prolly frustrates some Techs).
We cannot understand and I will not tolerate a Tech who does not take pride in their work, could care less if I bring my bike to them, and fails to recognize that it costs me $90.00 to bring my pup in the trlr to them each trip.
When I do find a Tech who takes pride, loves their job, respects me, my bike, etc..hell yes, I will go to them.
Yes there are many bad mechanics, some good ones, and only a few great Motorcycle Technicans
And yet, in the pages of these forums, there are some seriously good BDM mechanics that just happen to work in other fields.
Thank You all! :2thumbs:
