If you read some of the issues with Avon you just may consider Metzler. I know I will not be buying any more Avons.alright had my dog about a year now i'm fixin to buy new rubber for my 08 k9 front and back whats your choice avon or metzler??? thank you
It must be that "mile high" air that preserves that Avon for you. Before they changed over to their new and improved model, they made a damn good tire. Someone at Avon must have figured out how to save a bunch of money short term by using a softer rubber and firing the quality control guy.I've only used Avon tires and never an issue. Typically get about 11k miles on the rear....
Or, the Venoms were getting exceptional mileage and they needed increased sales by the Cobras wearing out so quick. Whichever, they've screwed up a good thing. It must be that "mile high" air that preserves that Avon for you. Before they changed over to their new and improved model, they made a damn good tire. I thought only Avon and Metzler made a 300 tire?I went back to Dunlop after 20 years of using Avon. The Dunlop tires seem to be holding up pretty well, besides there made in the U.S. We should be trying to support U.S products anyway......shouldn't we?
I've also read that Metzler have factories in both Germany and Brazil, the tires manufactured in Brazil have had the same issues as the Avon Cobra.
Got dumped on last Sunday, 2" of rain on the road, wasn't going my usual 90mph but blasted right through the rain riding like a normal person with no problem.Metzler is also much better on wet roads!
We all bragged on the old Avons, but you're in for a surprise when you change over to your new cobra. I think I got a couple thousand miles outa mine before the center of the tire woreoutMy Avons have been good to me. With any tire you have to be serious with the tire pressures I have 20k on my rear avon and still not ready to change over to my new cobra thats on standby.
