Hey Jesus Joe, where did you pick up the mini push button switches?

RETIRED
I got the left one wired up today. Rest of the bike is wired...just the right control at the bar, and the ends to the harness to go.

Word of caution: careful if you use header wrap!!!

I couldn't find my squirt bottle with water in it...so I decided to wrap the 2 into 1 header last night dry. I noticed as I was doing it that glass dust was in the air, but didn't think anything of it. I started hacking about 2am, and haven't felt right all day. Make sure you wet that wrap to keep from inhaling the fiberglass...take my word for it. Plus it comes out better when its wet, it pulls tighter, and forms around the courves better.
Just wrapped my new streetglide headers and ran the wrap thru a bucket of water before wrapping. After finishing the wrap and starting the bike, you could see the water running out as the wrap tightened up. I did it to hold down the heat on my leg. The shop that I bought it from said that it is even more effective if you paint the wrap with high temp paint.

Well done JJ! These controls look like a great solution to get rid of the crazy expensive control PCBs and allow the use of better switches and wiring!!!! :2thumbs:

Dennis

PS Are you seeing this Raywood? Looks like a great new product for Wild Steed Worx...
You hit it out the park, great Idea! They are fairly small so getting them in chrome wouldn't be highly expensive and really make them standout.

You definitly nailed this one!

Not to be a asshole, cause I think you did a great fuckin job. But since we have "wishlists" out here in the thread if I was to choose I think getting rid of the toggle be more aestetically pleasing. Maybe just 3 buttons on each? Hi/Low 1 Button, and Off/On 1 as well. Or maybe just a nice chrome switch would be better?

Here ya go: I'm posting a pic of the wiring too just to show I'm not a total nube. Everything is Deutsch connected and fused and wrapped pretty tight. I had it looking better, but I had to bust into it to wire in another relay.

Clean Install!!! You WP install beats the shit out of mine! Nice Job.

I really like that fuse box, very simple and straightforward. Do you have any more info on that? I know you mentioned they may be discontinued?

The wire harness/fusebox is a leftover part from some BMC Choppers inventory that I got when they went out of business. Everything works great except for the speedo....kinda wondering if something internal with the speedo took the control module out. The indicators and warning lights work, but the display was all over the place, and flashing weird. Maybe I should have dropped the amperage to the head, but I thought it would only pull what it needed. Time for Dakota I guess.

They were some switches I got for another project and didn't use.....I think they were from CCI or Mid-Usa. I will find out. I remember they weren't cheap.

Extra resistor will drop the voltage, and is needed for led's survival.

I have some of the connectors left from the original harness...anybody need them? I'm just gonna pitch em unless somebody can use them.

I also have a bunch of Deutsch 8 pins, 6 pins, 3 pins, and 2 pin plugs. They are new, and I have them with nickel pins already professionally crimped with 5-6 inches of wire left on the ends and assembled. Or I have them bare with the pins seals, and locks. Almost all are Gray...but I do have some black 8 pins. These are expensive as hell if you go to buy them and assemble them yourself......but man do they work nice.

Plus there has been a couple inquiries about the switch covers. I've told a couple people that if they want me to modify their housings like I did the ones on this R-Back...I would do them for $200 for the pair. If you send me your switches, I will drill them before I polish them...If its a show bike, they might be a little more. There is quite a bit of time to make them look right, but its a nice alternative to reconstructive surgery.
