now, that report sounds a little bit one sided to me. i think the government should ban all kinds of talk about the negative side of such a wonderful product as ethanol.

which is why I keep STA-BIL, Fuel Stabilizer in my tank at all times, as well as my weed-eater, lawnmower, etc.

If you do a google search for your town searching for "ethanol free gas stations" you will find some. Marine gas is always ethanol free and a few stations got around using it for that reason. I use it in my hotrods and bike when I'm near the 2 stations that are in Tacoma, where I live.

Ethanol does not produce the same amount of BTU's as regular gas, its about 10-12% less which means your actually paying far more and getting much less when buying gas that has ethanol. 1 gallon of 89 octane gas (no ethanol) in a car which gets 20 mpg on the highway vs gas with 10% ethanol the same car is now going to get 17-18 mpg on the highway........

talk about highway robbery!

STABIL will stabilize the fuel but will not stabailize the ethanol though. There are products out there that has enzynes that will eat the ethanol (including Stabil) but just using good old Stabil, it won't be a long term solution. Ethanol is nasty, nasty stuff when it breaks down.

Corn farmers are now selling 100% of their production....well that is also due to the gooberment..I mean taxpayers subsidizing them to grow the crop and sell it at a preset price for ethanol.

Sounds like a great deal for the farmers but everyone else seems to be getting screwed.
And were paying for it?

I've been using the Blue Marine Formula Sta-Bil, when I have to buy the junk with ethanol.
I just read where they are still trying to go to 15% ethanol, and they are making it out of sugar cane in South America.

I use Startron Enzyme in all my small engines, especially my bikes. My '96 Vulcan runs considerably better with this stuff in it.

I don't think the farmers are getting rich off this ethanol bs. Also, if these additives are so helpfull when adding to this corn gas, why isn't it added at the pump instead of the end user (US) having to pay for it. Look at exxons profits for the year!! We have a store about 6 miles from the house that sells the clean gas, but it's a bitch trying to time a fill up at the same place while out riding. It's just more bull sh*t be forced down our throats just like health care.

Divide the cost of these additives by the gallons treated and what are you paying per gallon!!
