Why not load the bike up and run it to Dallas Saturday and let Strokers do there own evaluation and estimate on it? You will probably benifit from there knowledge more than a insurance ajuster. Plus ajuster might have overlooked stuff a custom shop would not.

That sucks dude. Sorry to hear.

Forks are easily available. Tanks are regularly on sale on eBay and a lot of that stuff Shovelheadkicker has.

Hope the insurance company takes care of you
X's 2 that really "Sucks"!

I agree as well, no one rides mine , follow me , trust me, give me cash up front, beyond that look at it from a distance,,, no you can't sit it either!!

Hope you come out on this to your good,,

Me and this adjuster are about to go to the dirt. He called last night and said couldnt find prices on anything. I sent him to the bdm performance page. This is why a big dog dealer/technician should ge doing the estimate and not him

You should not even have to speak to the insurance adjuster. Assume your bike is repairable. What shop works on Big Dogs/custom choppers will do your repairs? That's where your bike needs to be and the shop owner should be the person making the estimates, not some insurance adjuster with Harley blinders on. The shop knows how much labor is involved for a total strip down/powdercoat/complete assembly. The shop should know where to get prices for Big Dog parts and the shop should have an artist that can give an estimate to duplicate your paint job. The only time you should be talking to the adjuster is after he has his estimate from the shop and makes a decision to repair or total.
BadBrad is spot on with this one. She is only assessing what she can see is damaged. What if something is bent and isn't caught now? After you sign and they pay you good luck getting anything else out of them! If it was me I wouldn't even deal with the agent. Take it to a repair shop for custom bikes. Alot of aftermarket parts you see do not mount right or require further modification. The insurance adjusters job is to save the insurance company money on its payout to the claimant.

I guarantee you Amy can set the ajuster streight on parts and labor with a better argument than you ever will! She can open price books!

I am very troubled to hear that you are experiencing this. I did not read six pages of comments, but I would tell the guy he just bought the bike for the asking price and threaten to sue for the cash; His insurance company should pay to fix it if he so chooses. Shit, in this day and age he might try to sue you saying you let him ride your bike without a license. I would ask him if he wants another 15 stitches in his head.

Kona Dawg,

Sorry about your bad luck. From the sounds of it, however, it sounds pretty much trashed and hopefully the insurance company will see it that way.

Hope the dude's okay but damn, I'd want to go to the hospital and slap the shit out of that moron hopping on a bike without a license and obviously not much sense on how to ride a bike.

I'm with AWG. No one would ride mine until it's paid for. And if I did let a good friend or someone else hop on, I would make sure they had both insurance and a license. Lastly, I picked up "gap" insurance on my ride in case something happens - if the bike is totaled this insurance covers anything above and beyond what is owed on the bike minus what the insurance values it at.

I rode without a licens for about 13 years.
He may have know how to ride and things just went bad.
Stuff happens. I would try to insist his insurance pay for it so your premiums don't go up.
If they pay you what you were asking for the bike consider it sold.

It is totaled. I am getting more than what i was asking. I will have the 3 piece custom seat set for sale as soon as i get home so i can put up pics. I am in florida with the tropical storm on vacation now. Luck sure is on my side

Good news and glad it worked out for you. Tuff way to sell a bike though. Did the guy that wrecked it ever say anything.

Can I buy it back? Looks like there is still some good parts to be had!

Did you ask the insurance company what it would cost to buy it back?
