Please excuse me if I didn't read this corectly. Not sure what the tax is, but if you go to super g manufacturer adjustment page, one of the first things it says is that these carbs aren't made for velocity stacks or ram air intakes. Does it hesitate enen worse into wind and up hills? If so, not enough fuel. I was never able to get it right with bigget jets. Got too big a flooded out when i got on it, but ran great at 70, 80-100. Just trying to help.I know how frustrating it can be. I formed a piece of aluminum around the inside of mine. Runs better than ever.

Just did a MAJOR change to the 05 ridgeback....
-dual wimmers
-super g with taz
-600 cam
-head work from john sachs (bigger valves, heads worked, quenched, double springs)
thunderheart ignition (did NOT change coil and did NOT change dwell)

At speed @70-80mph it seems to stutter/surge.... not sure why. I know a LOT was changed all at once. Anyone have this happen.
My thoughts are:
1: do i need to change the dwell on the coil
2: change the jets on the carb. Im at @3500+feet. thinking maybe 34 intermediate/80 main and 60 on air bleed?
3: tried 3 on the ignition and 4 settings.....seemed to like 4 better, but didnt know if that caused the surge.........

Ok let me have it.....all help is appreciated.

Ok...dropped down to a 74 main jet and seems plugs are happy. both at a nice grey color, but i still get the stutter. I am leaning towards allanshaw1's diagnosis that the crosswind forces too much air into the "g" causing a lean mixture which would explain why i can ride out of the stutter when i add choke (enrichment) when it happens.

Shawn, didn't read all 4 pages but have you removed the floatbowl vent?

My 08 ridgeback seems to be doing the same thing, almost any time i am trying to hold speed in any gear. If i get on the throttle all is good, if I let off the throttle all is good, but when just trying to hold speed I get stuttering/surging and a little backfire. It has a makuni carb on it. I am not very good with this stuff but want to learn!

Move your air bleed to 68-72, I have an RSD velocity stack, am running 32int,72air bleed, 82main....and don't forget to adjust the carb when done - (Do remove the bolw vent)
