Has any one just thrown away all the stck wiring and redone the wiring going to try this tired of the elcetric problems any suggestions

you have 2 choices. the "Wire Plus" system and the BDM retro system. do a search and you will find info on both. for the wire plus, talk to Jake (bdmridgeback) at | | LOW DOWN CHOP SHOP | Parts, Big, Dog, New, Out*-*Low Down Chop Shop believe he still sells them. pros and cons for both.

Your choices are not so limited, I pulled all factory wiring and went back with old school chopper wiring. Everybody on here says it'll cost you an arm and a leg and you've got to have handlebars made and get new hand controls and turn signals etc...This is not true!
I re-wired it all myself and kept stock signals, headlight, speedo and controls. Cost me 8 hours and 33 bucks...So, you decide which is cheaper.

You were able to keep the stock controls? Do you have any more details on how you were able to run it?

I just ran the basic chopper setup, keyswitch, relay, 30amp breaker, flasher for signals and 10 amp fuse for lights. I re-located the starter switch under the seat (invisible unless you know it's there) As far as the hand controls they only have the horn and turn signals right now, headlight only has low beam now, eventually I'll put in the high beam switch in the hand control again.
I purchased a 6x6 pre-drilled circuit board from radio shack for $1.00 on clearance (regularly around 4 bucks) then cut 2 pieces out of the board the same size as the ones BD used. The new boards fit right in the stock silicone button housing. I then mounted mini micro switches on the new board (these suckers are tiny!) where the buttons would make contact and soldered them in place with new wires.
I am trying to get the pics together and hope to have them posted in the next couple days

For sure I'd like to see this. So you ditched the BD control boards and went with a standard signal board? What are you using for a turn signal/brake light controller?
Keep in mind that if you pay a shop to do the Wire Plus or PDM, you are just about the same cost as a complete rewire with new handlebars and controls, if you sell your stock controls afterwards... A shop done complete rewire will cost you somewhere around $1500 in parts and labor minus whatever you get for your stock controls and handlebars.

Running from key switch to fuse to flasher to switches then to signal. The flasher was just a standard 12v flasher I got from Auto Zone. The rear taillight (red wire) I ran to the key switch so they come on when the key is on. The R and L rear turns (brown and purple wires) are ran through the same switch as the fronts except I also tied them into the brake pressure switch, so basically when the rear brake is pressed both rear turn signals come on at the same time and stay on til you let off the brake.
