I bought a 2007 k9 at a estate sale where the other owner had passed away..... Long story short..... It wont start.... It will "click"the engine over a little bit , the horn will honk and rhe flashers will flash when you try and start it..... Someone asked me if I got the "key fob with it, no I didnt. Is that my problem? Thanks for any help....

I thnk that the advice WRabbit gave you is sound. If you don`t have any trusted knowledge of the age of that existing battery then the first thing to do is replace the existing one with an AGM style sealed type. Also you should be sure to purchase a battery trickle charger for AGM style Gel Sealed Type batteries. The standard type will eventually destroy the battery`s ability to accept a full, then later any reasonable charge at all. Good Luck with your new scooter. Tom Chop:choppersmiley:

Thanks alot guys!!!! So where they jusy blowing smoke up my rear asking me if I got the "key fob" worh it? Do these bikes even come with some kind of alarm? My brother has a new Harley and I know he has to carry his "key fob" with him. Didnt know if it was the same kinda setup.... Thanks again guys!

Thanks guys.... Been up all night working on it... It will start and run.... Thank to a new battery! But, now it smokes like a train!! Its an 07 with 860 miles only.. I drained all the gas and added fresh gas and its still the same...... Its not blue or black its for of a grayish white... Really bad when you riv her a little.. Its been setting for at least 6 months maybe longer..... Please guys, I need more help here... Thanks
Drop the Carb Float Bowl and clean it out, throw the jets in some parts cleaner and let em soak. Might just have some gunk in the gas from sitting for who knows how long.
I would also just go ahead and throw in some new plugs they are cheap.

I would change the oil and filter and see if it still smokes if it does could be the valve oil seals that may have gone bad it it set for a long time. :2thumbs:

If the engine runs...then nothing major. However it does sound like valve seals or oil getting past the piston rings. Make sure you top it off with oil and take her for a ride, maybe 20 miles, to see if the rings can re-seat them selves. If the smoke doesn't stop then yes I am afraid you would have to open up the engine to put valve seals, or rings in. Might try running some sea foam in it also.

It may have sumped the oil down into the crank, if it has set for a while I would drain ALL the fluids before I even tried to fire it, cuz if it fills the crank with oil then you try to fire it that oil can push past the rings, dont ask me how I know, but every evo style motor I have ever had at one time or another has sumped the oil, there are guys on here with ALOT more knowledge than ME. But my past experience is when i get a new bike I drain EVERYTHING and start fresh.
Before you open the motor to replace valve seal, DRAIN THE OIL, CHANGE THE FILTER AND now change the plugs again. Take the dog out for a 15-20 mile ride and see how it does. If it continues, then I woudl consider doing a ring job, as it may be that the rings are stuck from sitting around for god knows how long. Replacing the valve oil seal is the same as on a V8 small block chev engine or at least the ones I have worked on. You will need to take the heads off to make things easier. Since you are going that far as to remove the heads, you might as well pull the jugs have them honed and replace the rings. Provided it did not stop smoking with the oil change. That is my two cents on this.
