Interesting read on BDM

Well its good to hear that they admit that they are learning as their business model changes. Going from a strictly dealer orientated business to a retail consumer side is much much different. The level of customer service required at the individual retail level is SOOO much more demanding. Now they do not have a sales rep responsible for dealership X and Y, and put off the small stuff for another day.

If they want to continue with the new business they need to make sure their website shows accurate lead times, as well as handle every customer inquriy no matter how small.

Anyways, I was glad to see they are admitting to some mistakes at the beggining. I can only hope they are able to cut necessary costs, and keep a feasible business model ready to strike when the economy heats up again. Might not be for another 5 or 10 yrs, but if they keep pounding away, a small profit is better than no profit!

from the economy we have now sounds like they are doing good. Most businesses have changes there models and processes, it is nesesary for growth. I would like to see them build motorcycles again one day, of course this is going to be tough with the new EPA regulations.
I plan on having my big dog for a long time so I hope they do it smart down the road so I can still get parts for years to come.

Very interesting read... But what a half ass web site IMHO! If they could get a good web site and photos with descriptions, better search for parts... they could make a fortune!

An interesting read, and in the beginning i found comfort in knowing BDM will be around for the foreseeable future.
Tried to access the web site, very slow and almost impossible to navigate............so i gave up.
Not a good start for a company trying to crawl out of the economic down turn shit pit.

I do hope they get their shit together as there is defiantly a market for a part supplier.

If anybody has contact with these folks, they should send them a link to this thread. They will see how bad a poorly designed web site is hurting them.
Maybe they would react and spent a little money for a proper website.
Hell, the do it yourself software can produce a better site!

I wish them the best, I really hope they provide parts for ALL the models they had made. I have an 04 chopper, When I navigate around the website I feel like they have written the older bikes off and only care to provide service and parts to the newer models.
