K-9 Purchase

I did it! I went to the dealer last night, and purchased my first dog...a leftover 2007 K-9. I'm installing VH Big Radius, and I just couldn't resist the chrome spike air-filter he had on display. I have a cosmetic question, and that's do you think the spike filter looks better pointing up, or forward? The dealer said, roughly 70% of K-9 owners have it pointing up...I had the intention of pointing it forward, but the more I looked at it, I think he made sense. Anyhow, this is the pic of the bike I purchased and more pics will follow once I pick up my bike next week....:)

Congrats.:whoop: Good looking scoot you got there. :2thumbs: As for the spike air filter as a matter of personal preference, I like it pointing forward.

Congrats - Great Bike. Depends on the spike - others will chime in who have them, but seems to depend on which spike you have, wimmer or d&m - Pointing up has eliminated problems with running and front cylinder fouling up.

Let the games begin! And the filter goes up for air flow reasons as well, that's why most guys to put them up. Also, depending on your altitude, that spike may not flow enough. I had one at sea level and had to take it off, but now that I'm up in CO at 5000' I can run one again...

Direction on the spike is totally about your personal preference. There are a lot of rumors regarding quality and positioning of these things - most of which are just that - rumors. Mine runs great, and has never had any tuning problems. Personally, I think it looks better pointing straight into the wind.

Congratulations on the new ride - paint looks great - stand by to get a lot of attention at gas stations, etc.

Haven't heard of anyone getting hassled over the missing reflectors - some have caught flak for flipping the plate, but that one varies by state.
