Blown base gasket
Well I knew it was coming sooner or later (would have preferred later since it means I will have to pay someone to fix it, working 7 days a week and only get to ride here and there at night). I took the bike out for a hooters bike night run to harass the local mammary gland augmentation restaurant staff and noticed my front cylinder gasket was poking out just a little bit but no oil leaking. Well after pushing the bike about 60 mph over the posted limit coming home on I-12, I still had no oil leak. Well I opened the trailer to see a few drops of oil on the floor and running down the bottom end...... So as she cooled and shrank it started leaking. I did push my luck last night by going out knowing it could blow, but there is a bartender I hadn't met yet that of course would want to ride after getting off work
. Well Ms Nicole didn't ride but we do have dinner plans Tuesday
Well I bored you will all those non-important details to ask what else I should possibly look into for some minor mods while the motor is apart. Keep in mind I am looking for minimal down time as it is perfect riding weather.
Currently looking at the following:
1. Thinner gasket kit to bump compression
2. New exhaust (I love my pipes but I can no longer stand the excessive decel pop and boot burning, mainly the boot catching on fire part)
3. Stronger springs on my bandit clutch
4. Polished and port my heads (the shop here in BR does it in house so minimal down time)
5. Not sure what springs I have so when they get it apart I will see if I need to change springs
6. Insert your suggestion here
Any other suggestions, comments, grips or informative info you can pass my way would be greatly appreciated.
Also wanted to thank MoeSpeeds for the offer of helping out with sending me info for a tear down but I just don't have time, See ya in a month man.
