After 14 pages of this I am getting tired. If they went under it is too late. If they are going to go under there is nothing I can do about it. If they are not going under that would be great news.

So, where is everyone going to ride this weekend!

I've been sitting back reading all the posts over the last two days and I have to admit it's been pretty entertaining to see all the opinions and speculations. It is, no it isn't, yes it is, no it's not. :loony::loony: It's like a B rated drama film.

We all new that the company has been struggling to stay afloat just like many of us that have been out of work for quite some time now. We also know the sales that the company relies on to remain solvent have been dismal to say the least. I might add that HD sales r down as well so it's just not BDM it's all manufacturers. Unfortunately it affects BDM more due to the cost of the bikes.

Does this make me sad YES. However, I already own a BDM and I ride it all day long with a grin from ear to ear. I bought this bike for the styling and ride comfort that I could not find in an HD. I wanted to sit down in the bike not on top of it. With that said every time I sit into the seat and twist the throttle I feel Sheldon's American Made vision.

The cards have been dealt and we'll all survive riding our bikes with a freakin grin on our face if it ever warms up enough to ride.

Just my thoughts.
Have a grand day, :2thumbs:

A concrete supplier that knew very well and serviced in Chesapeake VA has closed its doors as of Friday with the layoff of thirty men who I knew for many years ...Family's and friends will suffer . wow this sucks ...How you like the change NOW!!!!~!!! Feeling pretty good about your choice? Hmmmmmm You know who you are!:

"FAD" For financial reasons, mainly I could not afford a $30,000 bike, I couldn't buy a dog. I was going to build my next bike, when I came across a dog with no miles at half the price, I had to have it. This Mastiff is exactly what my mental image of my project bike would have been. I have a great high-pro bike with great parts and style that I can modify any way I please to make it unique. So fuck the assholes who say "FAD" these are the non-biker sheep of today's biker world.

Way to go, D*ck!.......... Just kidding. But just in case, what will be you next large purchase so I know to buy a different brand. haha

Too bad

Really is to bad its in this shape. To be honest tho could see it coming, posted a few months ago in a thread. I live about 50 miles away and have gone to the wichita shop on numerous occasions. Had work done and the guys in the garage were great people. In the last 6 months tho its been really really bad up there. Took a buddy up there to look at bikes and only two people working in the whole place. Said that if we come back another day that they might be able to help us. Called parts department about buying some parts from them. Told no one was working and to leave a message and they would get back with me. They never did. Tried to call the shop 2 weeks ago about tires and getting them installed there. No one ever answered for 4 days straight and could not get a return call. Either they gave up some time ago or just was not interested in earning some money.

Big Dog Motorcycles admits its amazing road trip is over

Big Dog Motorcycles admits its amazing road trip is over

Like the roar of their motorcycles, the news of Big Dog came fast and loud yesterday shifting gears quickly from denial to confession that the small American manufacturer had officially been shut down.

The buzz around the future of the company that produces custom style choppers carrying powerful names such as Bulldog, Pitbull and Ridgeback started Monday morning in a popular motorcycle blog. Motorcycle publications and local newspapers carried quotes from the company’s President Mike Simmons who stated ‘We’re still open just like we were last week’.

The confirmation of rumors that Big Dog Motorcycles were nearing the end of their seventeen year journey came from one of its more famous dealers, custom bike builder and motorcycle celebrity Rick Fairless.

Reported in several media sources Fairless, who owns and runs Strokers Dallas, stated he had spoken to the owner of Big Dog Motorcycles and was told a bank had taken over the company and stopped production.

According to Fairless, Big Dog owner Sheldon Coleman hopes to create a new business that makes and sells parts to Big Dog owners and dealers.

In the meantime, the shutdown leaves those eligible current and future Big Dog owners without a warranty on their motorcycle. All Big Dog motorcycles came with a two-year warranty.

Although the events gave an ordinary week and dramatic start, the ending isn’t a surprise to many industry experts with Rick Fairless admitting in interviews the news of Big Dog Motorcycles shutting down wasn’t ‘completely unexpected’.

It’s a road other similar motorcycle manufacturers have taken. The final days of American Ironhorse played out over weeks of speculation in 2009 until management admitted the company’s motorcycle inventory, stock and tools would be liquidated.

Big Dog Motorcycles had expanded their line from the muscle choppers that made the company famous by producing a touring model called the Bulldog (pictured below) featuring flame painted hard saddlebags. A notable milestone for Big Dog, in 2006 it produced its 20,000th motorcycle

BDM Tampa

Anybody can write anything with anonymity. The company (and ourselves) are open, and Mary Beth is not giving freebies away behind the shop at 6:30. After a while the rumors get tiresome. BTW - I just got off the phone with Wichita regarding the 3 new 2011 K9-250s I just happily bought! Great bikes at great values.

PS ... The EHC retrofit kit for K9s are in stock, but don't change yours just because somebody had a problem somewhere ....
SWEET! Was going to call you, Ben and Travis and see WTF is up with you all... Leesburg on Saturday Tank... tell Ben and Travis to pack up the shop and ride up!

To all... this is Tank from the countries BEST BDM Shop..... BDM Tampa. Love my Mastiff and the guys at BDM Tampa are great! Not only as bikers and mechanics... but good people i feel proud to call friends.

Lena,

thanks for putting out this statement.

"Tank" has no idea what he is talking about .....
And claiming he is a "major Big Dog dealer" , I just have to laugh ....:loony:
Uh, Germen..... Tank works at BigDog Tampa, one of (if not the) biggest BD dealerships in the country... he isn't dumb, he isn't confused and he IS a dealership...

BD Tama did go through bankruptcy... and came out. Maybe BDM isn't bankrupt, so maybe Tank doesn't have all the info, but if BD Tampa is still open, that's enough to keep me happy for now. I hope and pray BDM makes it, but personal attacks on fellow BD fans and bikers does no good.

I bought mine simply because it's what I wanted.
EXACTLY... Riding all my life. With my last bike i said the only way i would get rid of it was if i got a BigDog.. 3 years later i traded it for a BigDog (08 Mastiff LE), new off the floor.... TANK, sold it to me with Ben giving me some good deals. That was 31 Oct 2008... love the bike, love the look, love the feel. My wife enjoys the ride (on back) of the bike much more than my previous bikes too (and I've never owned a sport bike)...

Buy what you like, be proud of your ride, fuck the posers, RUB's and wannabe's...
