Well Gentlemen,

There's really only one thing left to do,

Pour your favorite drink, raise your glass and show your respects to a great company that brought a lot of good times to a lot of people. For those of us who are fortunate enough to own a piece of this history, the good times will continue and may all the Dog's keep barking!!!!

I agree! :cheers::cheers:

Back in '04 I rode my buddy Mike's '03 Big Dog Chopper from Sturgis to Custer Battlefield. I had to have one and ended up building my chopper modeled after an '04 Big Dog Chopper (and using a 107 S&S and drive train from a Big Dog dealer). I now have an '07 K-9 that I am finishing much like Rub did. All this I could not and would not have done if there had never been a BDM. My only regret is that I never had the $30-some thousand to plunk down on a brand new BDM bike to help out the company and I blame that on the sub-prime lending economic MESS that wall street, our politicians, and banks put us in (BTW rent and watch the documentary called "Inside Job" now in Redbox. A very sad commentary on our leadership and country. It will blow you away!).

I love Big Dog Motorcycles!

Well, it’s no longer just a rumor and we knew it was ultimately going to happen. We started a thread discussing this issue last year when the layoffs were happening. I mentioned this in that thread and I'll mention it again, we're a self sustaining tight nit group and we have our network of vendors that supports us and can assist in finding aftermarket parts. I'm sorry for those of you that have or had warranties on your scoots. I would suggest that you don’t do any major modifications for a few weeks at least, until the smoke clears and we see what the true path for DBM will be. We need to move forward and continue riding our scoots. Don't let this event be a set-back from enjoying the sweet piece of machinery that you own...

BDM currently has my gas tank and the dealer has my bike. I just read the first 2 pages of this thread and it's too late to call the dealer. Am I going to have a problem getting my bike back?

Rest in Peace, Big Dog. Only a chosen few will ever experience the opportunity to own and ride one of these classic beauties. I am glad to be a part of a select few. I look forward to many more unbelievable miles ahead. Thank you BDM.

I have 2 Big Dogs and don't regret either purchase. I got tired of trying to figure out which black harley my key fit.

Most of the Big Dog parts suppliers are still out there and hopefully we will get more access to them. This site is our best asset right now.

I don't plan on getting rid of either bike and I doubt many on the site are ready to head for the exits. Hope Sheldon gets the parts business off the ground quickly and someday goes back to assembleing bikes.

I had a buddy that got laid off last week. He was 1of 2 painters still there. Mostly for warrant purposes. They both got canned. So I knew there was nobody left to do ANY paint work, warranty or production. He said they haven't built anything in a long time. I always had a small hope of going back to the funnest job I've ever had, but I guess I'll just keep doing what I do... If anybody need any paint work, I'm still here huffing it up in the garage! Btw, my email address on my website is down. We are transitioning to a new website. But I can easily be reached here.
It is a sad day, but we'll find a way to make it. There's lots of good people and vendors on this forum to keep your bikes going!

Damn where did that thread go about changing the bars and hand controls out to harley style controls. I may need to save that one for later.

I love my bike and it's not going anywhere. My wife was making fun of me the other day because I covered it with a blanket in the garage. I told her she's lucky I don't park it in the living room while I'm gone.

Ok, my tissue is soaked....:job: Fuck That! We may very well see BDM rise up from the ashes (Yep, a Dokken fan) and rise again once the economy does pop....only a matter of time....
I would submit that BDM will live on as the bikes just made too big of an impact on the bike community:whoop:
I for one will be buying another one as soon as I find the one I am looking for and I will keep it running and on the road no matter what!:whoop::bang::whoop:
I for one am not convinced that the story is over.....ah yes, I can hear them howling now...:loony:....wait for it!:2thumbs:

This BLOWS! I guess it's not like it was a big surprise. I've been collecting a few spare parts off Ebay for a while....just in case. I wouldn't mind having a spare tranny on the shelf. I'm sure we can keep our bikes going just fine. We just may need to go a little more custom.
Maybe our dogs will truely be collector items some day. I'm keeping mine and plan on enjoying every mile I put on it.
