Is Big Dog Motorcycles really done?

Anybody can write anything with anonymity. The company (and ourselves) are open, and Mary Beth is not giving freebies away behind the shop at 6:30. I just got off the phone with Wichita regarding the 3 new 2011 K9-250s I just happily bought!

PS ... The EHC retrofit kit for K9s are in stock, but don't change yours just because somebody had a problem somewhere ....

According to Lena Fairless, and I talked with her again about 30 minutes ago, she sat in on the phone call Rick Fairless had with Sheldon Coleman and BDM is done.

Lena knows everything so don't doubt her, she's probably still mad at me. :lol:

Practically it means that all Big Dog warranties have stopped. Big Dog Motorcycles, LLC, started production in 1994 and it is estimated that since then it has built over 25,000 motorcycles, becoming at one time the world’s largest manufacturer of custom motorcycles. The company surfed the booming years of the motorcycle industry by providing an entire line of chopper motorcycles using S&S engines, 6-speed transmissions, stretched one-piece steel tank, super fat tires, chrome components, steel fenders, and an extensive variety of custom paint colors and graphics. All models were designed and manufactured at the company’s headquarters in Wichita, Kansas

What a shame to lose such a great product. It is very upsetting to me as I have loved these great bikes since the first time I had the pleasure of looking at one. The feeling of riding one of these awesome machines is like none other.

Looks like the price drop has already begun.....

The same woman that I have spoke to in the past answered my questions directly, I asked her this, "you've probably heard this a hundred times but" and she said " yeah one hundred and one" I asked, "are you still manufacturing motorcycles" her response,"Yes" I asked, "Are you still manufacturing parts", Her response,"Yes" I said "OK thank you"

Why would this woman, that I have spoke to many times in the past be giving this kind of response? Is she sitting at the office in an empty facility and blowing smoke? Is she in denial? Did she go insane from the loss of the company and just showing up at work in an empty office and doing business as usual?:loony:

Fact: Everyone has an opinion, but opinions are not necessarily fact.

Whatever the results.... The fact is this economy SUCKS and needs to be called what it is... A DEPRESSION... I know I'm pretty depressed.

But i still love my Dog :2thumbs::2thumbs: I think Sheldon did all he could to avoid what is happening now and remember it all started in a garage.... he could just regroup and start all over when the time is right.. Big Dog will never be gone completely

:roll::roll:I spend a lot of time in the "Dog House"! From my experience, if they (real girls - its in their genes) admire you, they will let you know by busting your chops. Then, they will let it go (Some take longer than others). But (Big But), if they are in for the long haul, they will bring it up later because unlike men, they have an infinite organized filing cabinet up in the back of their brains at the base of their skulls and you will be taken by surprise! Ok, sometimes I am full of it:loony::loony::loony:and I like it that way.

well i just got email from Chris at bdm and i was asking about parts that i have on order and he said as soon as they come in they will ship and to go through the dealer for parts. So not sure what to think!!!!!
