You guys are making me nervous :eek: My 05 was built in November of 04. I thought i had some slipping at the end of last year @ 4900 miles. how long do i have:confused: when I bought it in November of 06 it had a vibration and when i checked it out Both :eek: upper mount bolts to the heads were missing... Maybe i will pick up the new setup and be prepared..

I think some have hit the nail on the 05. It seems to have occured more on the early model. I have an 05 and have right around 15K on it and have had no issues with it what so ever. Feel confident with it, but do keep and eye and ear out for any changes.

I will go to a Bandit when the times comes, but based on the current situation, do not expect that anytime soon.

effin ell! I think its safe to say you've identified the problem - you would of thought something like that would have caused a complete failure

My 05 was built in Aug 04 #29 and I've had no problems so far with over 43,000 on the clock.
But, I don't ride mine hard either.

BUT, when it's time to go with a new clutch I think I will be upgrading the whole package after seeing those pictures. :D

This is how it came out of the bike!!
It wasn't making any uncommon noise, the only thing it started doing was wanting to creep at a stop with the clutch in and in gear.

Jake, did the clutch kit come with a new shaft seal? Looks like your's is leaking a bit.

Raywood, Answer for your ??? is it is only leaking because the Flange Hub and Carrier is pulled out of the seal and it has since been leaking a bit. after I tore it apart I slid the Hub back in and all is good. The dealer said I should not have to replace that seal.

I think that has everything to do with it. I broke mine within 1000 miles of getting my 05.:whoop:

I rode mine with the wife 2-up, and I found It failed at some point when I got on it hard with us both on it.

Don't tell her I said this! :spank:

Looks like the old hub that failed from a briitle facture.Bandits new hubs are made of steel like they should be.05chop:cheers:

Yep, I had a broken clutch hub too. Same symptoms.

I was able to call customer service and, they supplied the new clutch basket even though the bike was out of warranty. ( I had to foot the labor though )

But hey, it's an 1100.00 clutch basket.

I just got word today that they will replace all parts with BDM parts under warranty even though mine ran out. I can't do any of the Bandit parts or they won't do it.

I am thinking for the $400 I spent, It may be worth just getting the BDM stuff out of the bike and putting the better Bandit stuff in it. I have to make up my mind by morning!

After they put in the upgraded clutch basket in my 05 the lever pull was really hard. It won't slip or break with the new basket but you better go down to you local sports shop and get you some forearm springs.

I have not heard of any problems with the new basket...Big Dog knew they had a design problem with the first round so they asked for a redesign...and Baker is one of the best names in the business as far as strength and durability. Baker has an excellent reputation.

I do not remember a huge difference in the feel of the lever after switching to the new style basket...it has always been a bit tougher than I would like both before and after.

Mine did the same. But then it stopped. Didn't leak alot just enough to annoy me. But I may just replace the seal anyway... just cause I would hate for it to leak after I put it all back together.

Al and I thought maybe it had to do with the heat gun whicking out some of the fluid. But you're probably right Jake.


Vickie also said that Baker will warrenty those carriers all the time! But it sounds like you're sold on just doing the Banditt which I don't blame you.
