Raywood brings out a good point. Sometimes BDM will turn down a claim if it was something that should have been caught through proper maintenance and if dealer did it, they will push it back on dealer. An example would be you take it in for the 500 mile service and the dealer goes over it all as per BDM recommendations which include checking the bolts for proper torque, then before the next scheduled interval for checking (as per the manual) at 5000 miles, the bolts come loose and causes the problem.
Now assuming that you did nothing (nor the dealer) that would change something (such as loosing it for a mod!!!!), if it came loose, BDM could question, well did the torque actually get checked at 500 miles?
So they turn it down and push back to dealer. A shit dealer could try to push back on customer, however if it was me and the dealer was the same as the last that did it, my questions would be why the F would it break if the bolts were checked to TORQUE by that dealer?
Now the questions come, did the dealer actually take a torque wrench to the bolts or just check them by feel or a quick turn of the wrench. Are you dealing with the last dealer that worked on it, was it done by yourself, etc. ?
If we do some of the service ourself, it is good to get the proper torque wrenchs, sockets, etc and go over all those bolts as recommended at no more than than the recommended mileage period, sooner is better.
Good luck
